Mamma Mia'

"' here I go again - My, my, how can I resist you?" Indeed, how can you resist seeing the international smash hit Mamma Mia! just once' or twice for that matter? Three times is the charm and indeed, the Mandalay Bay Theatre's production of Mamma Mia! is the best one that I have seen yet! For whatever reason, if you haven't heard of this infectious musical (like perhaps you are an alien from another planet), undoubtedly, you must have heard of the similarly titled song, penned by the duo of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Mamma Mia! is a genius of a musical scored from the volumes of timeless songs that Benny and Bjorn (from the legendary Swedish group ABBA) wrote from more than a decade ago. The romantic musical takes its audience through a sea of emotions, drawing laughs while flooding the audience with songs that are all too familiar and catchy. Whether you are a fan of ABBA or not, it cannot help but get your feet tapping and your hands clapping to the tunes.

Indeed, Las Vegas is arguably the entertainment capital of the world, with its lights and glitz dazzling you 24 hours a day' the city that truly never sleeps. Even in this city of legendary shows, cabarets and musicals, this permanent production has managed to stand out, becoming one of the best selling acts ever to hit the glamour of Las Vegas. It is only right that Mamma Mia! be at home in the luxurious Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip.

Mamma Mia!, inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA's songs, has writer Catherine Johnson's funny, romantic tale of family and friendship as it unfolds on a tiny Greek island. On the eve of her wedding, Sophie Sheridan (Suzie Jacobsen Balser) brings three men from her mother's past to try to discover the true identity of her father that she never knew. Featured songs include classics "Waterloo", "Dancing Queen", "The Winner Takes It All", "Money, Money, Money" and "Take A Chance On Me".

This musical is worth tearing yourself away from the felt-covered tables or any of the many 5-star buffet lines for a couple hours. The auditorium is state-of-the-art with clear accoustics and an unobstructed view of the stage no matter where you are seated. The show takes you away to the chaming Greek-island setting and the music takes you back a couple decades to the colourful era of bell-bottoms, sequins and lycra. This is a show not to be missed!!!
