Art & Wine: A Perfect Pairing” at The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, Las Vegas,  is offering a fun and unique opportunity to experience both incredible art, and wine.  Starting in September, and continuing through December, on the second Wednesday of each month, the event treats patrons to pairings of three wines, with three featured artworks from the current exhibition.

Tarissa Tiberti and Jason Smith

Most delightful is the open accessibility with the Bellagio’s very own Master Sommelier, Jason Smith, and the beautiful executive director of the Gallery of Fine Art, Tarissa Tiberti.  Both are delightful conversationalist with a wealth of knowledge about, art, and wine.  Plus you get to browse the art, drink wine, with lots of interesting and fun people who enjoy the same thing.  Win Win !

The tasting took place outside the Gallery itself, and included first; Pablo Picasso with an intense gaze, presented in a photograph by David Douglas Duncan, and it was paired with a Gerard Bertrand Cremant de Limoux Rose, Languedoc-Roussillon 2012 . Next on the agenda was a figure painting by Picasso from April of 1947 titled `Tete a la coiffe’, and it was paired with a Von Winning Riesling, Pfalz 2012. It was noted that the smooth curves and sharp lines in Picasso’s painting was emulated in the Riesling. Lastly was presented a lithograph by Pablo Picasso from 1946, titled `Les deux femmes nues.’ Translated to `Two Nude Women’, always my favorite subjects, the ladies were paired with Kaiken Malbec “Ultra,” Mendoza 2012.  It was noted that the robust quality of the wine required equally robust body parts.

Included in the Art and Wine event was access to the current gallery exhibition “Picasso: Creatures and Creativity” which focuses on Picasso’s and my, favorite theme, the human figure.  The art exhibition takes guest on a step-by-step journey through the famed artist’s thought progression and creative process behind his painting and printmaking.  You can  take a look at this link for my Article in Splash Magazine, covering the opening of the Picasso Exhibit.

The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art’s presentation Picasso: Creatures and Creativity, on view July 3, 2015, and will end  January 10, 2016. The exhibition features 43 of Picasso's paintings, linocuts and lithographs spanning the 1930s–1960s. These works showcase Picasso's extraordinary ability to capture the human form with his use of line, movement and color. Highlighting his ability to create portraits that vary from realism to the highly abstract, the exhibition reveals Picasso’s evolution as an artist over a 30-year span.

I strongly suggest you get your tickets now if you will be in Las Vegas. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art always offers the highest quality of art shows. Tarissa Tiberti does a masterful job with the art gallery, and the presentations I’ve seen here rival any museum I’ve been to. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is definitely more in the vein of a museum, not a typical art gallery.
