With the 86th Academy Awards just around the corner, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles hosted the Scandinavian Pre-Oscar Party to celebrate the Scandinavian nominees at this years Academy Awards. The event was held on February 27 at the prestige art gallery Jack Rutbergs Fine Arts in West Hollywood. At the art gallery the guests got a preview of their upcoming exhibition Twin Visions: Jerome Witkin & Joel-Peter Witkin.
The Scandinavian Pre-Oscar Party was arranged for the second year in a row after being such a huge success last year. It is an exclusive event for members of SACC and honorable guests celebrating Scandinavian film.
This years nominees from Denmark is “The Hunt”, nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, “The Act of Killing” is nominated for Best Documentary Feature and “Helium” is nominated for Best Live Action Short. And from Finland, the movie “Do I Have to take Care of Everything?” is also nominated for Best Live Action Short.
The event was packed with people having a good time, enjoying Scandinavian appetizers, mingling, admiring the art, and bidding on the silent auction. On the auction table there was a Fender guitar signed by Led Zeppelin, a framed The Wolf of Wallstreet poster signed by the cast, another framed poster signed by Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, a signed poster by the cast of The Godfather, a big basket of Swedish goodies and a lot more!
All through the evening the mood was on top and the guests were having a great time. The event was beautifully arranged in the open atmosphere of the art gallery, it really was a perfect way of honoring the nominees and celebrate Scandinavian film.
