Hi everybody it’s me your favorite jewel Rubee. Today I have to share my experience at Matt Barnes Meet and Greet.
Now the LA Clippers small forward is well known for his career as a NBA player. Little does everyone know, he is also all about giving back through his charity. He has been throwing charity events for years. Back in August with Rapper Snoop Dogg, Matt hosted the charity flag football game. Which had an amazing turn out. Most recently Matt had a weekend charity event that brought out a lot of fans and supporters for a good cause. Kicking the weekend off with his autograph signing at Hawthorne Sports Authority.
Now although Matt was a LA Laker. He most recently became a LA Clipper. Which brought out both Clippers and Lakers fans. The book signing was quite a success.
Even though the signing was from 3pm to 4pm, people started lining up hours earlier just to make sure they got in line to get an autograph from the Clippers small forward. People were getting some of everything signed. From jerseys, tee-shirts, pictures along with some other things like coffee mugs and even shoes.
Now although Matt Barnes is now a LA Clipper that didn’t stop fans from bringing things to get signed from his Memphis Grizzly and even from Matts days at UCLA. You can tell he has some loyal fans. I heard one guy say he came to get his picture signed he took some years back when he lived in Memphis and he attended a game there. What I really liked is that Matt seemed like such a down to earth person with a great personality. He was very kind to his fans.
I saw a guy get 4 photos signed by Matt with no hesitation. He even liked the photos the guy had and chose to display them on the table during the signing to show them to everyone. One of the pictures included a young Barnes in his UCLA days. No Tattoo's, no kids & no wife. Just him and the game. Which he really took a liking too. So much so that he called over his son so he could see daddy before all the tattoos. Which I thought was so cute.
Matt was recently on Good Day LA talking about his Celebrity vs Charity event. Which Saturdays Meet and Greet at Hawthorne Sports Authority was the kick off for, and also an opportunity to get an invite to the Art Show cohosted by Barnes at the MB Abraham Gallery in downtown LA.
This is an art show thrown to display beautiful art pieces by some wonderful and talented people. The purpose of this Art show is to raise money for Cancer, which is always a great thing. I had a great time at the autograph signing. And I am now an even bigger fan of Matts because I loved his humble spirit and the way he embraced his fan. He showed a lot about his character. Not only as an athlete, but as a man, father and husband.
