In Los Angeles on January 27th, 2014, The annual "Only In Louisiana" Brunch was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 25, at the Conga Room and was hosted by Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne of Louisiana and actress Faith Ford. The "Only In Louisiana" Brunch is held each year in celebration of the GRAMMY nominees from the state. This year’s distinguished nominees include Allen Toussaint, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Bobby Rush, Hot 8 Brass Band, Hunter Hayes, Mikky Ekko, P.J. Morton, Terence Blanchard, Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, Tim McGraw and Zachary Richard. Lt. Governor Dardenne gave a rousing speech during the lively event that featured the Wild Magnolias Mardi Gras Indians, led by Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr., live performances by nominated artists, and an authentic Louisiana seafood meal of crawfish, shrimp and oysters.
Several different acts performed distinct music styles indigenous to Louisiana. Zachary Richard played his innovative combination of Cajun and zydeco musical styles. Hot 8 Brass Band brought down the house with its traditional New Orleans-style brass band sound. The event ended with Lt. Governor Dardenne and Faith Ford, along with Hot 8 Brass Band and the New Orleans Mardi Gras favorites the Wild Magnolias, leading guests out of the venue with a traditional Louisiana second line parade.
