Miss and Mister World USA 2013 - Young Contestants Show Their Talents

The second annual Miss & Mister World USA 2013 was held on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Beyond The Stars Palace in Glendale, CA.

It was a red carpet gala with the celebrity judges stepping out of the limo right onto the red carpet. The photographers were lined up taking pictures while celebrity guests were interviewed live on the red carpet for US Armenia TV.

As the LA Fashion Judge, Celebrity Fashion Stylist and Ms. New York 1996, I was asked to join the panel of four judges including, Lilya Avagyan, Broadcast Journalist &  TV Host for US Armenia TV; Emilya Zoryan, Miss Armenia of Miss Global 2013 Pageant; and Katarina Martirosyan Actress and Model. My husband and three children were also invited to attend this wonderful event.

The beauty pageant commenced with a children’s international recital followed by Mrs. Marianna Sargsyan’s Vice President of Miss & Mister World USA opera singing performance.

The children in this beauty pageant were divided into two different age groups.  Group I was between the ages of 3-6 and Group II was 6-11. The 12 participants in each group showcased their beauty and talents by Fashion Walk and Royal Couple Walk to the audience of over 300 guests including the Celebrity Judges who had the final vote.

The young participants were judged based on individuality in looks, capability, poise, perfection and confidence. What I loved the most about this pageant is that the children looked, talked and walked naturally and age appropriate. The little girls did not wear any hair extensions, heavy grown-up cosmetics and did not have an artificially developed charm for winning. The young contestants all looked so innocent, beautiful and extremely adorable to me and my fellow judges.  Needless to mention, it was quite difficult to pick only one winning couple, male and female from each group.

Hence, Mr. Abram Sargisyan, the President of the Miss & Mister World USA  organization and Mrs. Marianna Sargsyan, awarded to all of the young contestants for participating in this beauty pageant.  They were all awarded a small gift and a title, such as Mr. Handsome, Ms. Beautiful, Mr. Popular, Ms Confident and etc...

Personally, not only as the LA Fashion Judge, but as a mother of three young children, I think this was a spectacular idea! The awarded gifts and the titles were definitely a fantastic way to keep these young competitors’ morals high and positive in order to compete and continue to do so with the hope of winning the following year.

The final vote for Miss & Mister World USA 2013 was announced in the end of the pageant. The young Ambassadors of Miss & Mister World USA 2013, Anna & David Petrosyan presented the awards to the each winner with Swarovski crystal crowns for the young ladies and medals for the boys with over $500 worth of gifts and credits. From Group I the winners were 5 years old Nicolette Nersesyan and 4 years old Arman Ghazarian. And from Group II the winners were 6 years old Nataly Martirosyan, and 7 years old Hakop Sirounian.

Congratulations to all of the young contestants for the courage of competing in this pageant and representing themselves so graciously!

For the Miss & Mister World USA 2013 beauty pageant I paired ivory palazzo pants from St. John Collection with a silver sequence Gryphon New York blouse. I completed the ensemble with a wide silver crystal studded Judith Leiber belt, Rene Caovillaheels and a black Fendi envelope bag. I kept jewelry very minimal. As for hair, I opted for a natural long-wavy look. For a pop of color, I glossed a red lipstick that made me feel elegant and confident.

I also got the chance to style my children who were there to support me and the young pageant contestants.

Katrina Magzanyan, age 8, graced the red carpet in pink Romeo Juliet cocktail dress pairing it with Franco Sarto wedges. Her hair was styled to a side ponytail along with pink large studded earrings.

Isabella Magzanyan, age 7, was head over heels for her pair of high Juicy Couture heels! She rocked the red carpet in a neon pink dress with a big silver floral hair band on her hair to match her silver heels.

John Magzanyan, age 5 sported his casual look wearing a Ralph Lauren shirt with Lucky Brand summer shorts. He walked the red carpet wearing Nautica loafers. The panama jack hat and the aviator shades definitely “swagged out” his look.
