METRIC, an Independent Rock’ n Roll band celebrated the release of their new full-length studio album Synthetica yesterday, June 21st 2012 at Avalon. The listening party sponsored by Acura ILX, drew media and friends to congratulate the band on their new album Synthetica. The band consisting of Emily Hanes, Jimmy Shaw, Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott Keys enjoyed some hors d’oevres and drinks in an intimate setting, representing the new wave of self made musicians that's changing the business model of the music industry.
Metric self-released their last album Fantasies on five continents without a label and earned multiple radio hits around the world such as “Gimme Sympathy”, “Gold Guns Girls” and “Help I’m Alive”. Fantasies earned “album of the year” and “Band of the year” at the Canadian Juno Awards and finished 2010 with their music featured in the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” and “Scott Pilgrim Versus the World”. They since have worked on another film called “Cosmopolis” that is due out this year.
Their new album SYNTHETICA sounds like the culmination of all the music the band has made in their 10 years together. With their upbeat Synth- Rock tunes like “ Speed the Collapse”, “Lost Kitten”, “Breathing Underwater” and “ Clone” call out some hard behavior and their consequences. The music an organic blend of Indie Rock and synthesizers boasts with energy and a driving beat.
