Media insiders were ‘one with nature’ as they gathered at the LA Zoo for a preview for the upcoming ‘Beastly Ball Fundraiser’. Top L.A Restaurants catered the event with dishes that were inspired by Los Angeles Zoo Rainforest Habitat Animal Names.
The Beastly Ball will be held on June 15th and is the main fundraiser by Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), which is a private non-profit organization that raises money for the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
Connie Morgan, president of GLAZA, along with our favorite ‘Golden Girl’ Betty White who serves at the Co-Chairman of GLAZA welcomed attendees and those involved in making this possible. Jonathan Weedman (Wells Fargo Senior Vice President and Community Relations), John Lewis (director of the LA Zoo), Tom LaBonge (City Councilmember) were also in attendance. Betty welcomed restaurants and guests and got everyone excited about the years Beastly Ball and how much it means to her and making it all possible.
Food was prepared by: El Cholo, Taix French Restaurant, Jersey Mike’s, El Coyote Mexican Café, Glorious Gourmet & Garnish Café, Celestino Ristorante, Canele, Yummy Cupcakes, along with the infamous Pink’s Hot Dogs.
“Even the animals of the rainforest love pink’s hot dogs!” One particular zoo inhabitant made a ruckus each and every time the name ‘pink’s hot dogs’ was mentioned, which made for a fun sight to see!
This year marks the 43rd Annual Beastly Ball which is to benefit the zoo and the opening of the ‘rainforest of the Americas habitat’ segment at the zoo. Thiis event will also honor Wells Fargo and actress Pauley Perrette. Guests are invited to dress in casual or safari attire, stroll through the zoo after hours while viewing animals, chatting with zoo keepers, and enjoying entertainment by Central and South American music groups, dancing, and dining on delectable bites.
For the first time they will have a pre-party gathering, ‘Bash Before the Ball’, which will serve as an initial meet and greet with Perrette. Perrette will receive the Tom Mankiewicz Leadership Award, which honors entertainment and industry professionals that deliver remarkable leadership through environmental conservation efforts, or by promoting civic pride and harmony in the community and wildlife either locally or globally.
Tickets to the Ball are $1,000 per person and an additional $500 for ‘Bash Before the Ball’. For tickets and additional information please visit: www.lazoo.org
