Spinning for a cause, Maria Menounos and ZICO coconut water hosted a charity spin ride at Cycle House benefiting the Challenged Athletes Foundation. CAF helps individuals with physical challenges get involved in sports.  Seats for the 45-minute ride sold for $50 per bike and riders got a chance to train alongside some of LA’s top instructors and gold-medal Olympian, Danielle McLaughlin. ZICO matched the total amount of money raised at the event.

Cycle House is an indoor cycling studio that donates two meals for every class purchased through the nonprofit, Feeding America. Lara Gillman, Cycle House owner, dreamt of owning a studio that excelled in customer service while giving back to the community and also incorporating incredible cardiovascular and strength training workout.

Adhering to a peaceful state of mind, Cycle House, provides its clients with the ultimate luxurious experience while incorporating to stay ‘green’. Cycle House refuses to sell plastic water bottles by providing an alkaline water filtration system. The studio is also virtually paperless. Additional perks are: free shoe rental, chilled eucalyptus towels, and complementary fruit are also included in the price of a class.

CAF strives to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. CAF believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. CAF puts on unique fundraising events as ways to get involved, make a difference, as well as raise awareness. CAF events are challenging and rewarding, but most importantly allow people to see how they are changing the lives of challenged athletes.

When you give to the CAF, you are making meaningful difference in the lives of people with physical challenges worldwide so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The partnership between Cycle House and CAF came from a true passion to help those in need. CAF values its participants as well as those that assist in any way possible. CAF strives to be recognized as a leader in a movement through which physically challenged athletes are accepted and respected at the same level as able-bodied athletes. CAF would like to reach out to the physically challenged community by providing inspiration, awareness, and mentoring.

All trainers and those in attendance at the charity ride had a great time breaking a sweat for the cause. During a 45-minute class, instructors adhere to a high-impact regimen that incorporates weights and stretching that can burn between 600 and 800 calories. Rides at Cycle House are based on rhythm riding – letting the beat serve as the guide for the intensity and tempo of the ride.

After the class attendees were able to relax in the garden and enjoy delicious tasty bites from Paleta. Paleta is Southern California’s first ‘green’ kitchen. There was tons of energy flowing throughout the room. Cycle House definitely put a spin on the event, through pain and sweat; Maria Menunous and attendees powered through the workout and not only enjoyed its intensity, but enjoyed doing it for a great cause!
