Adopt A Butterfly is doing a charity tie with Make-A-Wish Foundation.  For each Adopt A Butterfly Home Kit a portion of proceeds will be donated.  Thomas Cleavinger, Owner of Adopt A Butterfly, has been developing this exhibit since 2011.  The tour has been in ten states over the past five years: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Massachusetts, Missouri, Kansas, California, Hawaii, Minnesota, Illinois, Washington, and Michigan.  In the past Cleavinger has put on many events such as: Under Sea Adventures, Amazon Adventures, and other events pertaining to awareness and education for children and adults.

The conservatory experience will consist of butterflies freely flying about beautiful flowers and plants.  On occasion the butterflies may even land on the shoulder of a bright-eyed child as one walks about. During this experience there may be a chance to feed a butterfly and see one hatch from a chrysalis.  The butterflies that are among the conservatory are: Painted Lady, Monarch, Gulf Fritillary, Mourning Cloak, and Red Admiral.  During the visit there is the option of a staff guided tour, which educates on the science behind the anatomy of butterflies, their metamorphic life cycle, and their important role in the ecosystem.

Child Having Fun

Additionally, there is an interactive reading of the classic children's book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by: Eric Carle. Similarly, a child and adult may purchase a Adopt A Butterfly Home Kit, which includes live caterpillars, caterpillar food, a butterfly house, and instructions to hatch and care for butterflies.  Butterfly Home Kits are available for $26.00, and a portion of the sale is donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
