Big Bear Mountain Resort and Snow Summit Resort is no longer only for the winter months. Recently the mountains expands into summertime and has a very extensive list of activities for all levels and most importantly all ages.

Mountain bikers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts rejoice! On Friday, June 13, Snow Summit will expand its operations for the 2014 summer season by opening for seven days a week. The mountain, which had previously only been open Fridays-Sundays, will maintain daily operations for the remainder of the summer.

“We’re excited to expand our hours for daily operations,” said Chris Riddle, Vice President of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. “That’s four extra days of enjoying the mountain every week. Whether you’re grabbing your bike and heading to the Snow Summit Bike Park, or you’re throwing on your hiking boots, it’s going to be a great season at Snow Summit!”

To kick off the opening the resorts hosted a media day to give various forms of media a taste of what to expect for the summer months at Big Bear. To further enhance media day, attendees were able to lodge right in the heart of Big Bear at Northwoods Resort

The day kicked off with a tour guide of mountain biking and checking out the trails that Snow Summit has to offer. After garnishing a sweat and a huge appetite attendees were able to take the chair lift atop of the mountain for lunch. Taking in the views of the mountains and Big Bear lake at 8,200 was nothing short of spectacular!

After a well deserved lunch attendees could either hike or continue to bike. The warriors in our media group decided to take on biking once again, this time taking another route which allowed us to see more of what Big Bear has to offer. Closing in the evening cocktails and light bites were served.
