Fellow San Diegans will and local runners alike will be pleased to know that Billboard chart topper Aloe Blacc will be headlining the Suja Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2 marathon on June 1st. The Suja Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2 marathon is to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I'm sure this will be an event you do not want to miss. Blacc hass been known as a powerhouse singer/songwriter who has mastered the craft of integrating various skills. Widely known for his hit 'Wake Me Up', which he co-wrote for Swedish DJ-Avicii, quickly climbed to #1 in 22 countries across the globe. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that Aloe Blacc is going to headline the Suja Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon finish line concert at Petco Park this year,” said Kellen Vigil, event manager. “With the concert stage located on the field and the finish line festival taking place inside the stadium downtown, just steps from San Diego’s historic Gaslamp entertainment district, this year’s event is going to be a weekend experience that runners won’t want to miss.” In addition to Blacc's performance, attendees can also enjoy live, local bands.
Both races start in Balboa Park and finish at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. The marathon course not only runs by Old Town and Bay Park, but also through iconic Little Italy. The half marathon ventures all the way up to Normal Heights, with the majority of the course wrapping around Balboa Park.
