Barbara Lazaroff Wowed Los Angeles again with the 26th Anniversary of The
American Food & Wine Festival, which benefits the Los Angeles Chapter of
Meals on Wheels. Since its inception in 1982, the Puck-Lazaroff Charitable Foundation has supported the American Wine & Food Festival, raising more than $14 million for the
Los Angeles Chapter of Meals On Wheels. This organization serves thousands of meals each day to Los Angeles’ homebound, senior and disabled citizens.

Los Angeles has wonderful foodie events all year long, but the
American Food & Wine Festival is by far the best of the best. Celebrity Chefs from the finest restaurants across the United States showed up to serve up their finest dishes at the festival, which took place on September 27, 2008. A line up of today’s most prominent chefs converged upon Universal Studios in Los Angeles for a culinary celebration at the American Wine & Food Festival. A star-studded gathering of internationally celebrated chefs and fine wine and spirit purveyors showed up to honor the occasion.

After we disembarked from our tram ride, our evening started as we were greeted with a glass of rose’ champagne or actually “sparkling wine,” as one has to call it if it doesn’t come from the town of Champagne, a historic province in the Northeast of France.

With a setting as glorious as Universal Studios Backlot, guests were literally wined, dined and entertained at every turn. We were serenaded by soulful musicians who entertained us as we strolled though quaint, romantic streets that imparted the ambiance of rustic Italian villages, or towns in the South of France. The mood was perfectly set.

After eating my way through the glorious offerings of some of the best Celebrity Chef’s from New York to California, on Sunday I had to rest up and catch my breath.

Especially since I also attended Red Hot @ Red Seven which is an event that kicked off the Festival. Red Seven is one of Wolfgang Puck’s fabulous restaurants and along with some of the other chefs participating in the festival they cook up another night of gourmet dishes.

These celebrated chefs are among the best in the world. They prepared and served their signature dishes throughout the Festival setting. Festival attendees tasted some of the most exciting, unique and distinctive flavors found anywhere, complemented with the best wines and spirits.

There were so many delectable dishes I really don’t even know where to begin. One of my favorites was the cauliflower cream or soufflé or pudding or whatever it was, topped with black caviar. Mmmm. It was amazing is all I can say. Another treat we loved was another creamy, yummy thing with fresh strawberries and crispy things.

Guests feasted on everything from Gourmet delicacies to a Boston “lobsta’ roll” and fried oysters. There were Kobe steaks, Prime rib, all types of fresh fish and shellfish dishes, sliced pork, lobster pastas, roast duck and caviar tasting. Everything you could think of, and a lot you never would think of, was there. There was even lots of fun alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages laced throughout the grounds.

And then of course there were Gourmet Handmade Chocolates, Pastries, Cupcakes,

And then there was one of the most incredible silent auctions ever, where one could buy everything from Rare, Spectacular Wines, 5-star Hotel Vacations, Elegant Jewelry, Gourmet Dinners, Unique Entertainment Opportunities.
