FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, the ‚Äėtriple threat‚Äô multi-award nominated stage and screen personality Jenifer Lewis will perform SO MUCH LOVE, a special event scheduled at the state-of-the-art Nate Holden Performing Arts Center.
Jenifer Lewis’ has her roots in the theatre. So when she found out that one of LA’s most well-respected theatre companies, Rogue Machine, was looking for a new home, she offered to organize a spectacular benefit event! Proceeds from SO MUCH LOVE will assist Rogue Machine in finding a new home for their next season. An evening of fabulousness, promises Jenifer.
‚ÄúThis production, SO MUCH LOVE, was an inspiration which came from a deep love of the arts, life, being in love, and of course ‚Ķ so near to Valentine‚Äôs Day,‚ÄĚ says Lewis. The star-studded evening will include new songs written by Jenifer and Mark Alton Brown.
‚ÄúThere will be some nice surprises‚Ķ‚ÄĚ featuring works by Tony and Grammy Award winner Marc Shaiman ( HAIRSPRAY). Lewis mentioned about their friendship, ‚Äúwe met years ago and we both have our roots in the theatre. He‚Äôs just wonderful.‚ÄĚ
In addition to Jenifer’s critically acclaimed
work on Broadway in
EUBIE, DREAMGIRLS, in Neil Simon's
PROMISES PROMISES, and with
Meryl Streep in
MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN at the
Public Theater in New York, Jenifer has garnered
two NAACP Image Award nominations as
Best Supporting Actress -- for her work
WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? and
THE PREACHER’S WIFE respectively. She has appeared in more than 60 feature
films. Her 70-plus television
appearances include her role as ‚ÄėJackie Washington‚Äô in Lifetime's hit movie
JACKIE’S BACK! Which firmly established
her as a 'Diva' and icon.
Flynn (Artistic Director of Rogue Machine) says Ms.
Lewis, “She has made this show happen, and contributed generously to the arts
in Los Angeles.‚ÄĚ Jenifer is known for lending her time and energy to causes
close to heart. She is also a strong
advocate for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America programs and for HIV/AIDS
