Miss Malibu USA 2010 Review - Ludacris Crowns a New Queen

Yes indeed! A fantastic private Malibu estate, previously owned by music superstar Cher, was the privileged host-site for the 5th Annual Miss Malibu and Miss Malibu Teen Pageants, fast becoming celebrated annual Malibu mainstays. In years past, the Pageant has been attended by some of Hollywood’s most notable professionals and celebrities. This year was no different, as the site proved to be a wonderful host to many Los Angeles area personalities and invited guests.  The Pageant included approximately 40 wonderful and vibrant contestants, who were not only beautiful but who also strive to be community leaders and are academically accomplished and charity conscientious young women.

One particular charity that was being represented was T he Ludacris Foundation, which is an intiative of musician and actor Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges. The non-profit Atlanta-based charity uses music and the arts to reach out to urban youth. The appreciative charity received a portion of the proceeds from the Pageant. But let’s not forget the real party taking place in the sprawling estate. Guests were able to enjoy a VIP party, some in Cabanas, and partake in food and drinks while the festivities were ongoing and enjoy special live musical performances by Ryan Cabrera, Michael Johns (American Idol Season 7 finalist) and An-ya. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

As for the much anticipated event itself, former Miss Teen USA Tami Farrell, who was crowned Miss Malibu 2009 prior to becoming Miss California USA 2009, was in attendance to crown her successor. Many may recall Tami becoming Miss California after the previous winner, Carrie Prejean, was stripped of her title.  Joining Tami was Miss Teen Malibu 2009, Greer Grammer, and daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer (Fraser and Cheers), who recently appeared in an episode of Nickelodeon’s iCarly.  KTLA’s News Anchor Ross King teamed up with Tami Farrell as co-host of this year’s celebrations. Don’t worry; I will save you the indignity of having to hear the predictable speeches that ensued.

Ludacris served as one of ten judges. The other celebrity judges were Elisabeth Röhm (Law and Order, Miss Congeniality 2), Eric Viskovicz (Celebrity Personal Trainer), Jeff Garner (Designer), Linda Thompson (Actress and Songwriter), Marnie Saitta (Casting Director), Michael Yo (E! Celebrity Correspondent), Shaun Toub (Iron Man) and Timothy Durham (CEO, National Lampoon) sand Khloe Kardashian (Keeping up with the Kardashians). 

The exuberant winners of the Miss Malibu USA 2010 ( Bianca Peters) and Miss Malibu Teen USA 2010 ( Farah Griffin) will go on to compete for the title of Miss California USA 2010 and Miss Teen California 2010 in November at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, CA.

According to the organization, “ The Miss Malibu Organization hopes to offer a venue where young women in the local community from 14 to 26 years old can grow personally in poise, confidence, goal setting, public speaking, communication skills, physical fitness and self-discipline. We also strive to open doors and provide career and educational opportunities, not only to the winner but also to all the young women who participate."
