August 21, 2010 - The setting for this year’s 6th Annual Miss Malibu 2011 pageant was as alluring as the contestants themselves.  Thirty-two confident, young women paraded on stage at Malibu Bluffs Park, on Saturday, August 21, 2010.  Each contestant hoping to secure the title, qualifying them to move onto the Miss California USA 2011 pageant that will be held November 21, 2010 at the Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs.  

Completing their personal interviews in private with an esteemed panel of judges that included GRAMMY®-nominated and multiplatinum-selling recording artist Taylor Dayne, Stephanie Pratt ( The Hills), Necar Zadegan ( 24, Outlaw), Shar Jackson ( Celebrity Fit Club), Eric Viskovicz (Celebrity Personal Trainer), Marnie Saitta (Head Casting Director― Days of Our Lives), Lee Watkinson (Professional Poker Player),  Jefferson Wagner (Mayor of Malibu) and Ashley Jones ( True Blood, The Bold and the Beautiful), the entourage was moved outside for the swimsuit and evening gown categories.  Each category held one-third weight in the overall scoring to determine the Top 10.

The captivating scenery was enjoyed by all as the audience and judges listened to live performances by Caroline D’Amore and hip hop newcomer Ya Boy.  This year’s event was hosted by Emmy-winning anchor KTLA’S Morning News reporter Wendy Burch and Emmy-winning actress, author and talent extraordinaire Jackie Guerra; these ladies kept things lively.

The judges quickly narrowed down the group to the Top 5, which included Shannon Lewis (4th Runner-up), Lindsay Becker (3rd Runner-up), Kaitlyn Holstein (2nd Runner-up) and Brittany McGowan (1st Runner-up), with twenty-six year old Erin White being crowned Miss Malibu 2011Erin, a graduate from the University of North Carolina, has a well planned future which includes aspiring to be an Oscar-winning actor.  Winning the title was only part of her achievement for the evening, Erin White was also presented with a special award for Outstanding Community Service.  Noted LA philanthropists Christine and Dr. Gabriel Chiu personally selected and presented this award.

Miss Congeniality, an acknowledgment decided upon by the contestants themselves, was awarded to Greta Pechter. Miss Photogenic is bestowed annually upon the contestant who exemplifies confidence, beauty and personality as viewed through the lens of a camera; this year’s recipient was Brittany McGowan.

In addition to the honor of moving on to the Miss California USA 2011 pageant, Erin White will receive a wealth of health, beauty, fitness and media training packages valued at over $20,000.  The Official Miss Malibu After Party/Celebration was held at the iconic Malibu seafood destination Gladstones where the newest Miss Malibu was joined in the Winner’s Circle by Stephanie Pratt, Taylor Dayne and numerous other guests to enjoy a special new menu, DJ and signature drinks throughout the evening.

The Miss Malibu Organization hopes to offer a venue where young women in the local community from 14 to 26 years old can grow personally in poise, confidence, goal setting, public speaking, communication skills, physical fitness and self-discipline. We also strive to open doors and provide career and educational opportunities, not only to the winner but also to all the young women who participate. The Miss Malibu Organization was founded by Kristen Bradford, who also serves as the Pageant’s Co-Executive Producer along with Lash Fary and Pam Morrison of Distinctive Assets.
