Fireworks, Carmen Electra and the Killers, what more could you ask for to help you ring in the New Year? That is exactly what you received at the Gridlock New Years Eve 2007 event held at the Paramount Pictures Studio Lot in Hollywood.
Your host, Carmen Electra
Singer Leah Turner
This yearly event certainly gives New York a run for the best New Year's event. The New York Street backlot facility as it is known was transformed into 'Times Square West' for the evening, but without the frigid weather of the east coast. The combination of the music, atmosphere and all the people made this a night that anyone in attendance would not forget. There was certainly no doubt that no one on this New Year's Eve was going to find a bigger act or a better performance than what the Killers gave to their fans just after the New Year came in. The sky was filled with exploding lights, but the term fireworks had to be left for the performance put on by the Killers. As soon as The Killers hit the stage, they put the crowd in a frenzy, with the masses dancing and singing along to every song of the hour-long set. The Killers did all their hits including 'When You Were Young' and 'Mr. Brightside.' The true test of a great show was the buzz afterwards, and at three a.m. people were still talking about what an amazing performance turned in by The Killers.
Opening up on the Times Square Main Stage prior to the Killers were; Hearing Red (featuring actor Erik Palladino), Leah Turner and Optimus.
For the rest of the night, no matter what type of music you were looking for, you found it. DJ's playing hip hop, R&B, house music, 80's and rock, so if you didn't like what you were listening to, you just had to walk around the block and you just might find something you like. There were five stages throughout the backlot that kept the music going well into the morning and no matter which part of the lot you walked to you found hundreds and thousands of people dancing, drinking and just ringing in the new year in grand fashion.
In the VIP tent, attendees were treated to a great stage performance with dancers and a Cirque aerial show that gave everyone a nice taste of what you might see at a high-priced show in Las Vegas.

The drawback to the event had to be the VIP tent. If you paid to get into this special area, well, you may not have been able to get into this special area. After the show they began to stop people from entering at certain points of the night and the frustration level inside was high at times with the ridiculously long lines of people waiting for drinks. Hopefully this will be addressed for 2008, but overall this was one event that you should be certain to attend.
