Fair Fun in Malibu

Malibu’s Shalom Institute hosts the first annual Jewish County Fair.  They joined teams with Craig N Co and entertainer Craig Taubman.  The outdoor celebration of food, music, body, mind and spirit will take place on October 3rd, 2010 from 11 am on.

Performances by Josh Nelson, Moshav, Soul Aviv, Dan Nichols,  Michelle Citrin, Robbo, The Rescues, Smooth E and many more will fill the day.  More than just a musical event, it will also have a hands on demonstration in their bread making tent on how to make pita.  

Games will also be present, as well as rides and Jewish artists will present their work as fair attendees wander through the three acres sampling Jewish wines and various kosher foods while hearing spoken word poetry.  There will even be a kosher taco truck and the usual fair treats at funnel cakes.

“I’m so proud to be part of this event,” says Bill Kaplan, the executive direcgtor of the Shalom Institute – a camp and conference center.  “This is a festival that recognizes all of us, a people of a beautiful culture, music, dance and food.”  

The Shalom Institute is a year round experiential Jewish education center with camp and conference facilities.  

Craig N Co is an independent record label and production company headed by top selling Jewish musician Craig Taubman.  It creates and distributes some of the best Jewish music in the world.

The Jewish County Fair will also host an American Red Cross Mobile Blood Drive while the Heart and Soul Tent will feature workshops with yoga, fitness, exercise and dance instructors as LA’s guru Ilyse Baker.

The day will culminate with a festival ceremony and auction of arts and crafts.

The Shalom Institute:is located at 34342 Mulholland Hwy in Malibu, CA 90265.  Directions from Los Angeles are – Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) turns to Pacific Coast Highway.  Take that 27 miles to Mullholland (just past Leo Carillo State Beach). Turn right onto Mullholland and go 5 miles. The Institute will be on the right side.

From the valley take 101 to Kanan Rd.  Turn left onto Kanan and go 6 miles to Mullholland. Right on Mullholland and after 1 mile stay left when it forks. Stay on Encinal Cyn Rd.  After 3.5 miles, Encinal turns to Lechusa. Turn right on Lechusa into Decker Cyn Rd (23).  Turn right on Deck for ¼ mile to Mullholland stop sign and left onto Mullholland.  The institute is 2.5 miles on the left side.
