Hollywood, July 30th, 2006 - For their 19th annual summer party, D.A.S.K. Productions brought the Big Apple to the City of Angels transforming the Paramount Pictures Studio Lot into a mini New York City. Street performers, musicians, DJs, two jazz and blues cabarets, 30 full service bars, portrait artists, graffiti artists, and body painting artists offered a sampling of the social diversity available in New York. Guests toured Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Little Havana, Chinatown, and my favorite, the Fashion District in less than hour while enjoying the sights, sounds, and food of the mini-NYC block party.

Los Angelinos, turned New Yorkers for the night, gathered for fun and philanthropy. The D.A.S.K. summer party hosted a silent auction that benefited the P.S. I Love You Foundation, a foundation that finds creative ways to bring at-risk children together with community members to share time, support, laughter, and love. All in all, they bring a positive impact to the lives of at-risk youth: youths who live in or near poverty level within a one parent or no parent family unit, live in shelters, attend Title I schools, and live in the lowest income areas of Los Angeles.

The Statue of Liberty, Broadway, Empire State Building, Times Square, and Central Park...New York has it all! However, all of these sites pale in comparison to the ever-evolving, massively magnificent fashion scene in New York. Thus, as I nibbled on popcorn and pizza, I was overjoyed to find the mini-Fashion District at the D.A.S.K summer party! Tables and clothes racks displaying the dresses, designer jeans, designer handbags, and handmade jewelry were tightly packed into a mini-New York block. Guests strolled by, sometimes taking a moment to peruse a jewelry table and sometimes screaming with excitement over the deeply discounted Chloe handbag miraculously discovered buried in a mountain of Rock n' Republic jeans. Portable clothes racks were straining to support the seemingly endless supply of sexy summer dresses, trendy tops, and eber-cool cardigans. I, a true fashionista, spent an ample amount of time at each display, closely inspecting hammered gold hoops, hand-painted leather clutches from Thailand, and organic cashmere sweater dresses. As soon as I saw the fashion Mecca of our mini-New York, the rest of the event seemed to melt away and all that remained were clothes, accessories, and me. Now, what was I checking out'
