All That Skate LA - Los Angeles Premiere at STAPLES Center October 2nd & 3rd, 2010

Tickets are on sale for the American debut and Los Angeles premiere of the international skating spectacular “2010 All That Skate LA,” coming to STAPLES Center Saturday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Featuring the reigning Olympic Champion Yuna Kim, and the most decorated skater in U.S. history, Michelle Kwan, the show boasts an unprecedented cast of Olympic and World Champions. The announcement came during a press conference with Yuna Kim and Michelle Kwan at Pickwick Ice Rink in Burbank, California, attended by hundreds of members of the media.

Kim and Kwan, figure skating’s ultimate “royalty,” will combine their incomparable talents for two unforgettable performances. The special event marks the first performance by Yuna Kim in the United States following her stunning 2010 Vancouver Olympics victory and an eagerly awaited return to the ice for the legendary Kwan who has not performed for an American audience in over four years.

Cast

“I’m ecstatic that I get to once again perform in LA where I became the World Champion,” explains Yuna who won gold at the 2009 World Championship and recently received honorary citizenship from the city of Los Angeles. “Most of all, I’m thrilled to be performing with Michelle in her hometown. I can’t wait to meet all the U.S. figure skating fans and take to the stage with some of the most amazing skaters in the world.”

“I’ve really missed performing, and to be back in Los Angeles, skating at STAPLES Center makes it extra special,” said Kwan, a Los Angeles native who won the sixth of her record nine U.S. national titles at STAPLES Center in 2002. “To be able to skate in such a special show with Yuna and this incredible cast is really an honor for me. Skating fans in L.A. are in for a real treat.”

Unlike any ice show ever seen before, “2010 All That Skate LA” features a cast list that is a veritable who’s who in the skating world. Representing the first time Olympic Champions in three disciplines will share the same ice since the Vancouver Winter Games, stars include 2010 Olympic Pair Champions Shen Xue & Zhao Hongbo (China); 2010 Olympic Dance Champions Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir (Canada); Olympic Silver Medalists and Four-Time World Medalists Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto (USA); Two-time World Champions and Olympic Bronze Medalists Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy (Germany); Three-time U.S. Champion Johnny Weir (USA), and more.

The show’s riveting presentation hits the mark just like the skaters. A huge LED screen built into the multi-tiered set heightens the artistry and excitement with vivid and alluring imagery. Contemporary music, laser lights and theatrical staging, embolden the skaters with a freedom that is contagious to the audience. The show extends beyond the boundaries of figure skating. During one fast-paced production, a group of bboys join the skaters in a mesmerizing battle of one-upmanship that showcases the similarities between dance and skating. Another showstopper is the live performance by Korean singing sensation Younha.

The original production set box office records with a summer showcase in Korea. Now audiences in America will have an opportunity to see for themselves all that makes “2010 All That Skate LA” so different from other skating shows. The Los Angeles premiere is presented by AT Sports, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government and East West Bank, the largest bank based in Southern California, will be among the sponsors.
