Music Center Los Angeles private industry brunch spotlights Southern music, cuisine and culture
Louisiana Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne and two-time Grammy® Award winning country music artist Kix Brooks co-hosted the 2013 Grammy® Nominee Only In Louisiana Brunch on February 9th at the Music Center Los Angeles' Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The private, invitation-only event was in honor of this year's Grammy® Nominees from the state of Louisiana.
Chef Cory Bahr, 2012 winner of the Food Network's Chopped, introduced the crowd to his delicious new creations for his Monroe, Louisiana restaurant Cotton as "the best of Creative Southern Cuisine." Plates were piled high with Deviled Eggs, Jambalaya, Buttermilk Biscuits, Bread Pudding and Pecan Pralines. The champagne and mimomsas were bottomless.
The 2013 Louisiana native Grammy® Nominees are: Ellen Degeneres; Hunter Hayes; Dr. John; Corey Ledet with Anthony Dopsie, Dwayne Dopsie and Andre Thierry; Ledisi; Frank Ocean; Wayne Toups, Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy; and Lil' Wayne.
The 2013 Grammy® Nominee Only In Louisiana Brunch also showcased five new television spots from the Official Tourism Site of Louisiana's Pick Your Passion campaign, each focusing on the distinct music, culture and cuisine of the state of Louisiana.
A highlight of the brunch was seeing Louisiana native and 2002 Grammy® Award Best Traditional Folk Album Nominee Victoria Williams (for her work on "Avalon Blues: A Tribute To The Music Of Mississippi John Hurt"), enjoying the food and festivities with 1980 Grammy® Award Best New Artist Recipient Rickie Lee Jones, just before taking the stage for an all-star musical jam finale rendition of "You Are My Sunshine."
