Get ready to gasp, oooh and ahhh, and perhaps have to look away when the tension of the daredevil acrobat acts hits yet another high. This is “Cirque Shanghai”.
It is breathtakingly beautiful at times, and scary-in-a-good-way at others.
You will be in-the-moment electrified throughout the show, leaving all other cares and thoughts far behind. Get ready to gush at the gymnastic athletes that seemingly inhabit bodies that bend in all directions – 360 degrees, up, down, in, out, up, up, up and in the air.
This “Warriors” show puts the spotlight on the Kung Fu and Wu Shu master martial arts.
There are also many graceful women building pyramids where the top woman balances a flower on a pole in her mouth or dancing on silk ropes or flying with partners in the air.
If you know aspiring martial artists or would-be acrobatic champions do not let them miss this show.
This is great family entertainment all around. Just tell your acrophobic auntie to look away for those parts of the show where it gets to be a bit too much.
The show runs through September 1 at Navy Pier’s Pepsi Skyline Stage. Tickets are $19.50 - $39.50 for adults and $15.50 for children ages 3 to 12.
