Both Splash journalist Debra Davy and Chicago-Splash Editor-in-Chief Barbara Keer have previously reviewed “Bad Jews” and recommended it as a must-see production.

Barbara and Debra were not alone in their high estimation of “Bad Jews”.  Though clearly meant to provoke thought, it goes down as a laughter-filled crowd pleaser if a recent performance at its new home, the Royal George Theater, is any indication.

Here are some clips to give you a teaser of what to expect—

A caution and well-deserved compliment re: the Royal George space.  This performance is held in the intimate cabaret space and if you don’t choose your seats carefully you may end up straining your neck to see the action.  The problem is that many of the rows share risers instead of offering the consistent angle grade you expect in most theaters that help deliver good sight lines.

Tip:  If you find your seat is not what you expected ask the Royal George ticket staff and/or House Manager to help you find better seats.   It’s difficult to imagine a warmer or more accommodating staff who clearly care about the quality of your theater experience.

Other theaters are well-advised to take a page from the Royal George playbook.

Theater Wit is quite accommodating to theater lovers in the city, whether in their regular space or in this borrowed Royal George home.  Theater Wit originated Chicago's first monthly membership program to encourage cross-pollination among its productions and those presented by its resident and visiting companies. Resident companies in 2014-15 include Stage Left, Shattered Globe and Kokandy Productions. Today, more than 100 Chicagoans are Theater Wit members, seeing as many plays as they want at Wit for one low monthly fee of $36 ($22 for students). Wit also offers a Flex Pass: 10 admissions for $215 to anything presented in the building, a savings of up to 40%.

In 2014, Theater Wit was awarded the National Theatre Award by the American Theatre Wing for strengthening the quality, diversity and dynamism of American theater.

To purchase a Theater Wit Membership Program or Flex Pass, call the Theater Wit box office, 773.975.8150, or visit Theater Wit’s website
