Located on Morse Avenue in Chicago’s Roger’s Park neighborhood, the Mayne Stage Theatre was once home to the historic Morse Theatre, a vaudeville and movie house, popular in the 1920’s. It was then renovated in the 30’s using an Art Deco style design and was renamed the Co-ed Theatre, named for its propinquity to Loyola University. The theatre closed in the 1950’s and since was home to many different places of business, until it was recently renovated into what you see today; a beautifully updated theatre, equipped with state of the art technology including video systems and sound equipment. Accessible to more than just performances, the theatre will host anything from educational events to private parties.
At the Mayne Stage, I was lucky enough to see one of the countries most hilarious comedy acts, The Lampshades. Started by the two in the 90’s this act stars highly acclaimed comedians and Chicago natives Kate Flannery of NBC’s award winning show, The Office and Scot Robinson of box office hit Anchorman.
Prepare to laugh hysterically at this fake lounge act, hosted by the sleaziest pair in town Kassie Chew ( Flannery) and Hori Pismo ( Robinson). You won’t want to miss their witty banter and sidesplitting musical mash ups!
There is no doubt that you will thoroughly enjoy your entertainment experience at the Mayne Stage Theatre. Be one of the first to visit this remarkable new venue. You will not be disappointed!
