The Chicago Flower and Garden Show – In Chicago, suddenly it’s Spring!

Winter in Chicago feels like spring is truly far, far behind The skies, snowy streets, and bundled-up people all look grey. But every year, a wonderful sign of Spring appears – the Chicago Flower and Garden Show, which runs from March 9 through March 17 on Navy Pier, cheers us up and reminds us that indeed spring is coming soon with all its colors and warmth.

All kinds of interesting, refreshing and enjoyable activities will take place during the week-long Chicago Flower and Garden Show. Designers, contractors garden clubs will create inspirational display garden installations, giving visitors ideas and concepts for suburban yards, small-space urban gardens, and even smaller window boxes that will help you become the envy of your neighborhood.

The Chicago Flower & Garden Show will present a rare opportunity to see Ecuadorian roses in what’s believed to be the first U.S. exhibit focusing on these special flowers. They are three feet, six feet and sometimes eight feet tall, grand in every sense of the word and prized around the world for their amazing beauty and size. The Ecuadorian roses will be among dozens of tropical varieties on display that will add a remarkable burst of color and beauty, just when we need it most: wintertime.

Beyond gardens themselves, thirty-four Chicago chefs will share their expertise on creating dishes using natural and home-grown ingredients, and Chicago florists and gardening groups will present tablescapes on the theme of ‘An Art-Full Table.’ The Kids’ Activity Garden will engage kids of all ages in crafts and learning about flowers, insects found in gardens, and green activities such as composting.

Horticulture experts from academia, business and garden centers will be presenting free seminars and workshops on topics such as landscaping, planting techniques, annuals and perennials, organic gardening, and more.

To help Chicago Flower and Garden Show visitors turn inspiration into reality, more than 100 vendors of gardening, landscape and horticulture products and services will showcase green and eco-friendly garden and lawn-care products, plants, and tools – all available for purchase to help you be ready to work in your garden at the first hint of spring.
