Factio Magazine Winter Issue Launch Party Review - A Place to See and Be Seen

Factio Magazine held a fabulous launch party for their 2009 Winter Lifestyle and Fashion Issue hosted by Editor-in-chief Melissa Maynard at Crimson Lounge Friday February 20th. Crimson Lounge is one of Chicago’s `premier nightlife hotspots. It is known for hosting some of the most popular DJ’s including the infamous Samantha Ronson!

The evening was filled with great music from Chicago’s own DJ Timbuktu and local Chicago social butterflies fluttered about looking as fabulous as always in chic, sexy and modern fashions. The Crimson Lounge’s plush and luxurious interior could not have been a better fit with the theme behind the winter issue which boasted incredibly opulent material and great Chicago information. This issue catered to those in search of rich content and was loaded with bright and bold images that prepped the reader for spring. It also covered the latest in the trends and upcoming fashion and home events around the city.

The event sparkled with all of Chicago’s brightest and most stylish personalities including; jewelry designer Dana Levy, marketing exec Meghan Goulette, interior designer Michelle Williams, and socialite and blogger Candace Jordan (check out her blog at: candidcandace.com)! All four of the women’s home and style were featured within the magazines features section. Each woman maintained a beautiful and posh look within their homes that gave readers some great trends to follow.

I was able to steal a moment away with the evening’s host and Editor-in-chief of Factio Magazine, Melissa Maynard to get some insight on this quarter’s issue. I was incredibly impressed with the down to earth persona Ms. Maynard shared with everyone that evening. She welcomed all the fans of the magazine into the event with open arms! She made time to meet and greet everyone with an incredible sincerity that really showed the ingénue person she is! She located herself in an intimate seating area so that everyone was able to come in and take a seat and have a little chat!

Melissa is an alumnus of The Illinois Institute of Art and actually started Factio as an idea in a senior thesis class! It is incredible to see how far she has come and the ability she had to bring her dream into realization. It is also fantastic to see a woman who is leading by an example for all the aspiring fashion students in the Chicago land area. She is showing that you can succeed in whatever aspirations and dreams you have as long as you put your mind to it.

Melissa made it a point to explain that starting the magazine was definitely not an easy task. It required a ton of hard work and long hours, but she did it because she loved it. She was also incredibly smart about it. She started Factio as an online magazine first, during a time when “e-zines” were not considered a go to source for credible information. She saw a need for an online magazine such as hers and pushed to make sure it had the most informative and fashion forward information for the younger and more affluent readership she was seeking. She had a hunch that the online sector for information would boom and lo and behold, it most certainly did!

Very chic party goers

It is somewhat reminiscent of the development of the Splash magazines in the love and dedication of publisher to magazine .  Factio is thriving, having evolved into a sought after publication with incredible information on fashion trends, home trends and Chicago events! It offers information that complements Chicago Splash Magazine and worth checking periodically as a great place  for up to date and exciting Chicago fashion news at www.factio-magazine.com
