DANCING PROS: LIVE! Review - Audience Members Choose the Winners

Dancing Pros: Live! Is a new kind of theatrical performance: world-famous professional dancers on a 2014-2015 national tour compete in a variety of dance styles to become the grand-prize-winning couple.  If the show comes to your city, put on your dancing feet and go participate as both a spectator and a dancing judge!

That’s right: at the end of the singing and dancing fest, the audience members choose their favorite dancing couple, voting with their individual electronic remotes which are attached to each seat.

Recently, I attended the Broadway in Chicago Dancing Pros: LIVE! opening night at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. It was pure Hollywood a la “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance” – and featured famous songs from the likes of Adelle and Michael Jackson sung by vocalists Joanna Pacitti from “American Idol” Season 8 and Angel Taylor from “The Voice Season 2.  The ten dancers/competitors perform many dance styles including the Cha-Cha, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Freestyle Samba and The Jitterbug.

Alan Thicke, star of the hit television show “Growing Pains,” and seven-time Emmy nominee, is the charismatic and funny emcee of the national tour.  Audience members remember Edyta Sliwinska (a judge), and Chelsie Hightower (a competitor) from “Dancing with the Stars” and Ryan Di Lello (a competitor) from “So You Think You Can Dance.” Oscar Orosco is the other national touring judge.  Better known as Double O, Oscar has a career spanning 15 years in film, television, and theater. Each city on the tour will have its own local celebrity as the third judge.

Edyta Sliwinska is known for being the only professional dancer to appear on the first ten seasons of Dancing with the Stars.  She was the poster girl for the show in most of ABC’s advertising.

Chelsie Hightower is also a familiar face on the dance circuit, having appeared on nine seasons of Dancing with the Stars.  Chelsie was nominated for an Emmy for a dance she choreographed along with Derek Hough.

The remaining competitors on the tour are dance champions Artur Adamski, Paul Barris, Tess Buchatsky, Alexander Chernositov, Dmitry Demidov, Denys Drozdyuk, Arina Grishanina, Regina Maziarz, Antonina Skobina and Anastasia Trutneva.

Audience members will be in awe of the glamorous set design, mesmerizing group dance numbers and, of course, the unbelievable individual dance moves of this super-talented ensemble.  ABC News praised the show as a “high-energy experience packed with top talent.  Enjoy the wow!”  People Magazine recommended it as “Top notch dancing from the best in the world and a lively fan vote for the winner.  If you like Dancing with the Stars you’ll love the drama, excitement and unpredictability of Dancing Pros: Live!”

OF course, the edge-of-your-seat drama comes from the unbelievable and intricate dance steps performed by these professionally trained dancers – and the competitive battle that ensues from the specially chosen dance numbers.  Watching these dancers live is truly an unbelievable opportunity.

Upcoming 2014 appearances of the show will include West Virginia, Indiana, Iowa Michigan, Ohio,Wisconsin, Maine, Rhode Island, New YorkNew Jersey and Florida.

Complete listings for the national tour will be featured on the DancingPros website
