City Style House Tour 2015 Preview - Peek at Contemporary Luxe Living

If you have ever been intrigued with the possibilities of constructing and designing an epic dream home, you now have the opportunity to see masterful urban dwellings and to also contribute to a worthwhile cause. On Sunday, May 17, fans of cutting-edge architecture and bold interior design will get a rare treat: the opportunity for a top-to-bottom tour of unique Lincoln Park residences, as part of the 27th annual City Style House Tour sponsored by the Chicago City Day School Parents Association. During this annual City Style House Tour you will get a peek at contemporary luxe living.

There are five remarkable homes that will be open to visitors from 1 to 5 pm for a walking tour that will highlight stunning achievements in sleek design concepts and colorful interiors featuring period pieces, striking artwork and serene outdoor spaces.

The 2015 Tour includes an eclectic array of custom-designed homes. Although approached differently in each of these expansive residences, entertaining and family living spaces seamlessly coexist. Among them is an 8,475 square-foot home, designed by R. Michael Graham of Liederbach and Graham Architects and built by Novak Construction Company, that re-imagines the manse/coach house combination. Graham’s design merges the classic lines of an English country estate with industrial metalwork. This one-of-a-kind home with interiors by Bruce Fox, Inc. showcases the owner’s remarkable collection of large-scale paintings and sculpture, while retaining a relaxed atmosphere suitable for informal family gatherings.

Another home on the Tour, recently showcased in House Beautiful, features a stunning library lacquered in a sea of peacock blue and a cavernous kitchen with a curved vaulted ceiling – the work of New York interior design firm S.R. Gambrel, Inc. and Chicago architect Phillip Liederbach of Liederbach and Graham. A photograph of the home’s library graces the cover of the soon-to-be released book, The Art of Classical Details II; An Ideal Collaboration, by Phillip James Dodd.

The Chicago City Day School is an independent, co-educational, urban elementary school serving children in junior kindergarten through eighth grade, founded in 1981,. The School’s mission is to prepare students intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally, and aesthetically to participate in a changing and increasingly complex society.  The School develops each child's intellectual abilities in a nurturing environment by offering an academically challenging program in a school climate in which children are encouraged to take risks.

In the book, Apples are Square: Thinking Differently About Leadership with a forward by Deepak Chopra, Chicago City Day School’s headmistress Galeta Kaar Clayton is featured as one of 25 transformative leaders whose personal qualities bring out the very best from others, leading to high performing organizations.

In addition, the Tour begins with a complimentary catered reception at BOKA restaurant.  Advance tickets are $150 online at City Style House Tour or by calling the Chicago City Day School Development Office at 773-327-0900. All ticket proceeds benefit the students of the School. What a great day for those who attend.
