What difference does a forecast of thunderstorms and some rainfall make when it’s a chance to see previews of the Broadway in Chicago series that is so well-loved?

Not a whit of difference to the fence-to-fence raincoat and umbrella crowd last Monday August 5 in Millennium Park when Broadway in Chicago gave delightful snippet performances of a mix of old and return Broadway blockbusters!

Hosted by ABC 7 Chicago’s Janet Davies, Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, the musicals showcased included:  Wicked; Motown the Musical; Elf; Evita; Flashdance the Musical; Ghost the Musical; Million Dollar Quartet; Once; Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: the Musical™ and We Will Rock You.

Eileen LaCario, vice president of Broadway in Chicago, says, “We love being able to give back to our loyal fans and the residents of Chicago with this free concert…To see the numbers of Broadway performers who gather together for this one special  night and their joy in performing on the stage of one of the most extraordinary outdoor concert settings—it is truly one of our favorite nights.”

The program included a mix of video spots on the jumbo screen and onstage performers.

Enthusiasm was high throughout the performance but when the Jackson Five remake that will be featured in Motown the Musical took the stage at the finale the crowd explosion went up another notch.

It’s ALL good—and here are the schedule dates to note in your calendar:
