Frozemont Returns for the Holiday Season- An Outdoor Winter Escape

With temperatures falling and the months of summer seeming farther away, winter brings the feeling of being stuck inside. But don’t fret, events and attractions suited for all ages will take place again this year at FROZEMONT, a hot spot for outdoor activities that guarantee fun for everyone.

FROZEMONT kicked off the holiday season at MB Financial Park on Friday, Nov. 27 with “Light the Park” with the opening of The Chicago Wolves Ice Rink and tree lighting. The park transformed into a winter wonderland offering pictures with Santa, free horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice carving and a plethora of colorful lights decorating the trees.

The Chicago Wolves Ice Rink serves as one of the most popular and favorite attractions when visiting FROZEMONT. Outdoor skating is a great way to beat the wintertime blues, especially when entry is free. If you don’t have a pair of skates of your own, skate rentals, both figure and hockey skates are available on site for $8 a pair.  


Frozemont is set to hold its third season of the Winter Frost Face-Off hockey series

The ice rink will also host the Winter Frost Face-Off hockey series, which will return for its third season. A series of hockey games and competitions will take place beginning Friday, Jan. 7 through Sunday, March 2 where kids, adults and local Chicago hockey professionals will come together to participate in a number of events. Polar Peak tubing hill has a steep grade and four lanes


Polar Peak, the center of FROZEMONT, will have its grand opening on Dec. 11 and remain open until Jan. 31. At two stories in height, this year’s hill is promised to have an exciting tubing run down a steep grade. The hill consists of four lanes and is suitable for children ages three and older. Runs begin at $3, but are discounted after multiple runs.

MB Financial Park will also host an ice carving competition, Saturday, Dec. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Viewers can enjoy watching four local ice carvers create spectacular works of art inspired by the many winter attractions the park has to offer. The public is invited to vote on their favorite sculpture during the event to help determine the winner who will receive a $500 cash prize.

So, don’t feel like the family is stuck inside during the cold months of winter. Layer up and make sure to wear a hat and scarf and make your way down to FROZEMONT to enjoy ice skating, tubing and the many other attractions it has to offer. Don’t forget to visit the surrounding restaurants for a delicious meal before or after!
