Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Review - The New Home to the Stars in Las Vegas

The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino did more than a little touch-up in reinventing what used to be the Aladdin. They blew it up, without literally blowing it up, and they have come up with what puts them on par with any resort on the Las Vegas strip.

Entering Planet Hollywood you would have a hard time realizing that this was not built brand new from the ground up and you certainly would have a hard time trying to remember what it used to look like in its previous life.

Planet Hollywood went all out on the rooms, as with the rest of the resort, they all look brand new. As difficult as it can be at times to sleep in Las Vegas, the plush beds, pillows and comforter all make as a soft and comfortable nights sleep as you will find. In addition the bathrooms are so enormous you won’t have to worry about fighting over the mirror, as there are two sinks and in addition to the shower, there is an oversized tub if you feel like taking a relaxing soak. Along with the rest of the casino, the design and colors of the rooms are just stunning to the eye.

You will notice the striking decor as soon as you enter the casino, as Planet Hollywood spared no expense in making it a stunning atmoshpere. If you are interested in terms of gaming, there are endless options and if you are looking for a poker or slot tournament, there are plenty of opportunities. The Pleasure Pit located on the casino floor offers not only blackjack and roulette, but entertainment as beautiful women in the chicest lingerie and Go-Go dancers combined with great music, keep the gambling area energized.

As amazing as the rooms are, Planet Hollywood has so much to offer, that you aren’t likely to spend very much time there. To begin you night and possibly end your morning, Planet Hollywood made sure they have a nightlife that will go head-to-head with anyone on the Las Vegas Strip. Prive Las Vegas and its sister lounge, Living Room, bring a South Beach-style to Las Vegas.

The 12,000 square foot Prive opened on New Year’s Eve to a star-studded group headlined by Avril Levigne, showing what type of excitement and star power that Prive expects on a nightly basis.

The magnifcent interior of Prive

“We’ve taken the standard Las Vegas nightclub format and turned it on its head,” says Co-Managing Director Greg Jarmolowich. “This venue is about nothing more than fun, frivolity and fashion – every night will bring a new, unexpected experience for even the most seasoned guest.”

The Living Room

The Living Room is a more relaxed club, 3,000 square feet in size, the club takes on a modern twist on the cozy cigar lounges of the 1940’s, giving the patron a bit more of a chance to kick back and catch up with friends or share a more private, quiet, intimate atmosphere.

The eye-catching casino floor

Planet Hollywood in keeping the entertainment theme in the casino, teamed up with the television show EXTRA, to create the EXTRA Lounge. This is a great place to hang out and catch some of the show and hang out with some of the correspondents.

If food is your first priority, Planet Hollywood made sure it put its mark on Las Vegas by bringing in two of the finest and most well known restaurants in the United States. Beginning with KOI, which was made famous on the west coast and from the other side of the country one of the most respected and loved steakhouses in New York, the Strip House.

The Strip House kept the beautiful New York setting that will strike you as you enter. As tempted as you will be to enjoy one of the Strip Houses juicy and tender steaks, do not neglect the rest of the menu as from appetizer to desert, you will not be disappointed with any choice you make.

KOI Las Vegas has put together the perfect combination of the Asian design while effortlessly taking you from Las Vegas to an Asian setting while keeping with the setting of the original KOI in Los Angeles. The patron also has such a variety of choices of how to enjoy their evening. The dining room provides a romantic, Asian setting, you join the crowd up at the sushi bar and what spot you can’t miss before or after dinner is the Fountain Room, which gives you a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas Strip and allows you a perfect view of the Bellagio’s water show. KOI also gives you a brilliant menu and for such a restaurant, you will be amazed at the reasonable prices. If you are fond of sushi, the Crispy Rice Topped with Spicy Tuna is a must and if you prefer beef, the Kobe is true delicacy.

If that was not enough to make you hungry and you are looking for something more casual, PF Chang's China Bistro and Planet Dailies provide great food right off of the casino floor. This being Las Vegas you must visit the Buffet, and the Spice Market Buffet was voted the "#1 Buffet" in Las Vegas in 2007.

Yolo's Carne Asada Ranchera

The newest restaurant to join Planet Hollywood is Yolo's Mexican Grill.  This is not your ordinary mexican grill, I mean come on we are in Vegas. Yolo's certainly fits in with the Planet Hollywood theme, with the brightness and vibrant colors that accompany the fun and party atmosphere that is always happening. You will find the gorgeous bar and staff are just as popular as the restaurant itself, as they put the over sixty variations of tequila to good use, mixing up a wide variety of drinks that are far from what you will find at most bars in Las Vegas. From the sizzling fajitas to the authentic street tacos, Yolo's does a fantastic job providing great mexican food. One tip for you, if you like guacamole, order the guacamole fresca. This is a real treat and fun for your table as your server comes out with fresh avocados and prepares the guacamole right at your table.

Once you are done eating if you are up for a  little shopping, or a lot of shopping, the Miracle Mile Shops will give your fill with 170 different stores. Included are some of the biggest names around including; bebe, Betsey Johnson, Victoria’s Secret and Sephora, just to name a few. In addition there are another 15 restaurants to choose from and don’t miss the amazing indoor rainstorm

When it comes to entertainment Planet Hollywood is always going to have something that will peak your interest. Currently they are running the show Stomp Out Loud and in January, it will be hosting the 2008 Miss America Pagent.

As fun as it is to get out and enjoy all that the strip has to offer in Las Vegas, if you are looking for a place that is a city within itself and will give you everything you need without having to fight for a taxi, the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino is the place to stay on your next trip to Las Vegas.
