This year like as in years past, I went to Mercedes-Benz SWIM fashion week in Miami. As this was a working vacation, I needed to find an elegant hotel close to South Beach. During my research I came across the InterContinental Miami located in downtown Miami. It looked to be a beautiful elegant hotel located right on the water. Well what it looked to be, ended up being what it was. I am so very glad that I choose the InterContinental Miami as my temporary home.
The people at the front counter during check-in were courteous and professional; the lobby was spacious and beautiful. It had a relaxing ambiance, hardwood floors, stylish light fixtures, and contemporary decorations. My room was located on one of the top floors with an amazing view looking out at Biscayne Bay, the cruise ship dock and South Beach. The designers of the hotel did a wonderful job designing the room with beautiful contemporary artwork, very practical layout with emphasis on a large window highlighting the amazing view. I really can't emphasize how amazing the views were.
Upon entering the room was a lovely painting and mini-bar, the room was spacious with a flat screen TV and a little seating area. There was a large closet complete with a safe, bathrobes, and of course the obligatory ironing board and iron. The shower had a wonderful two showerhead appliance which really refreshed me when taking my shower.
During the time I was there, as usually happens every day in Miami, a large storm approached the hotel from the ocean, and it was really exciting, for an LA native, to see the storm clouds accumulating in the distance, growing more and more ominous as they enveloped my window. I was in the storm, looking as the rain poured in the lightning and thunder crashed I found it to be thrilling.
I was lucky enough to be able to get a spa treatment at the beautiful MySpa. I chose the Raindrop Experience, which is one of their new experiences. The spa is a very elaborate beautiful place with relaxing curved walls that are very healing, a huge sauna a large steam room with eucalyptus oil. I was surprised that there wasn't the Jacuzzi. There was however a beautiful swimming pool. The hotel is also equipped with a beautiful gym, great weights, exercise machines and bikes and all the necessary accoutrement to make a wonderful spot however just like in LA I never used it.
The InterContinental Hotel offers a wonderful continental breakfast on their 29th floor, in the Club InterContinental Lounge. The lounge is a spacious room with amazing views complete with scrambled eggs, yummy oatmeal, cold cuts, ham, bacon, juices, hot chocolate, cappuccino, coffee, various pastries and Danishes, as well as TVs at both ends of the room. They have complimentary services and amenities with drinks throughout the day, Continental Breakfast, Hors d’Oeuvers in the evening hours, and high speed internet. I found my stay at the InterContinental downtown Miami to be thoroughly enjoyable with the five-star treatment wonderful people amazing spot, terrific food, amazing views and would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Miami.
I would definitely recommend requesting a room on a top floor with views of Biscayne Bay.
