Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, which sits on Las Vegas Blvd. (also known as The Strip), boasts world class dining and nightlife that rivals the very best in the world. Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital and the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino is without a doubt one of the best in the world.
Mix it up in Las Vegas baby!
Standing on top of the world...or so it seems when at The Mix Lounge on the Las Vegas strip is an exhilerating experience. Situated on the 64th floor of The Hotel at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, the lounge offers spectacular 360-degree views of the strip as well as the Vegas valley. Thanks to the wall-to-wall black leather decor, your eye is automatically drawn to the floor to ceiling windows and panoramic beyond.
Riding up to the 64th floor in a glass elevator could stand as an attraction all on its own. Especially after a couple of drinks. The outstanding views don't stop at the elevator or the lounge itself. Even the all black restrooms boast floor to celing windows in each individual stall.
The balcony outside seems to be the main attraction. Lounges and tables allow for patrons to take in the night air while enjoying cocktails and views of the strip as well as other patrons. There is also a smaller area set aside for standing. While there is a lack of an actual dance floor, it didn't seem to stop the beautiful and sophisticated crowd from from swaying and moving to the tunes resident DJ Adam Webb had in store. The Mix Lounge is a true gem and a perfect venue for some laid back fun.
Bay Side Buffet at Mandalay Bay
This spacious and elegant buffet offers something for every palate. Outstanding prime rib and King crab, carved lamb, and succulent veal are just some of the delicious choices you have at Bay Side. A beautiful array of cold salads, fresh fruits, and a pasta to order station all combine to create a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth. But be sure to leave room for dessert as they make their own and should not be missed.
We enjoyed our dinner at the buffet so much that we went back for the Sunday brunch as well. We were not disappointed. Crispy bacon and flaky croissants were complemented by the ever flowing mimosas. The berries were sweet and and the decaf was wonderfully strong. The ambiance has an airy feel that is due in large part to the floor to ceiling windows that look out to Mandalay Bay's elaborate pool area.
Shark Reef
Who would ever think that one would be able to find an oceanic wonderland in the middle of the desert? Here, you can get face to face with some of the most dangerous and exotic animals in the world at Mandalay Bay's Shark Reef. This state-of-the-art aquarium boasts sharks, alligators, piranhas, rays and other aquatic animals with only a pane of glass separating them from you. There is even a touch pool where you can run yours hands over the leathery skin of various harmless sharks and rays.
With over 2,000,000 gallon of water all around you, the construction of this attraction within the Hotel Casino is itself an amazement. You will enjoy a beautiful display of blue sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, eels and a remarkable jellyfish display with black lights. Tickets are USD14.95 for adults; USD9.95 for children 5-12 and free for children younger than 5. This is definitly a must-see exhibit for the whole family.
