MJ&M 2016 - Empower Kids through Health, Wellness, and Education

Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M) 2016 is an annual two-day joint fundraising effort hosted by former and legendary Longhorns coach Mack Brown, musician and ACM award-winning recording artist Jack Ingram, and Academy Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey in Austin, Texas. The event was filled with entertainment that included a gala, concerts, golf, and even a fancy fashion show just like NY Fashion Week. This spring marked the 4th year of the Mack, Jack & McConaughey event and each year thousands of guests enjoy two full days of events that benefit charities working to empower kids through health, wellness, and education programming. The MJ&M is one of the top rated and ultra exclusive charity events held in Austin, Texas, which is known as "The Live Music Capitol of the World.”  The 2016 MJ&M supported children’s charities such as CureDuchenne, Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, HeartGiftjust keep livin Foundation, and The Rise School of Austin.


The Sponsors of this year's event included Allstate, H-E-B, NRG, Washington Redskins, Nike, American Campus Communities, CenterPoint Energy, Flatrock Companies, Spanish Oaks, Target, Austin Woman Magazine, iHeartMedia, Austin Radio Network, Austin Way Magazine, and Community Impact Newspaper.

LA Splash Magazine attended the event with our writer Yenis Monterrey who attended the gala and fashion show. The two day event started on Thursday the 14th with a private Golf Tournament at the Spanish Oaks Golf Club, followed by an opulent gala, red carpet cocktail reception, silent auction, VIP meet & greet, gala dinner, and concert. The concert featured the performances of the multi-platinum entertainer Dierks Bentley and Grammy award winner Kacey Musgraves. The concert was held Moody Theater where Austin City Limits live is performed.  The night of April the 14th during the live auction was full of excitement and fireworks. Cowboy Auctioneer Heath Hale and his team of award-winning ring men led by his brother Seth turned auction items into gold. Some of the items included an experience of walking the red carpet with Matthew and Camila McConaughey, fishing with Coach Mack Brown, and dinner at the famous Franklin BBQ for a whopping $1.2 million dollars.


Sponsors fell into five groups, Presenting Level , Founding Level, Steering Level, Partner Level, Premier, and Sponsor. In the Presenting Level were Tracey and Bill Marshall. The Founding Level Sponsors were Natalie and Scott Noble. Steering Level Sponsors were Rusty and Bill Duvall, Steve and Ava Late’s Aston Martin of Austin. Partner Level Sponsors were Katrine and Bill Formby, Lisa and Doug Hickok, Mike and Sammye Myers, Phil Night/Nike, Al Koehler, Derek Potts, Gina and Don Reese. Premier Sponsors were Emily and Bob Feiner, Laura and Tim Keyes, Ms. Donna Malouf, The Mrs., Lourd Murray, The Tecumseh Foundation, Sherri and Travis West, Debbi and Glenn Weinberg.

The Second day of MJ&M started with a golf tournament for the gentlemen, at Spanish Oaks Golf Club, and for the ladies an impeccable/striking fashion show and luncheon at the magnificent JW Marriott  was presented by Nordstrom. The event was hosted by the candid and alluring brazilian beauty Camila Alves McConaughey, Sally Brown and Amy Ingram and showcased the 2016 Spring Collection of  Veronica Bear which debuted at New York Fashion week. The looks fuse classic American sportswear with a Latin twist to create a collection of reimagined icons, “A time when feminine confidence could turn heads.” The collection presented the biggest trends for this spring such as stripes on suit combos, dresses, and everything in between including shoulder cut-outs, nautical details, nude colors and more. The event had a champagne reception, fashion show and was followed by a luncheon at a separate ballroom with an exquisite menu.

MJ&M Fashion Show and Luncheon had the following sponsors that fell into 3 groups: Lead, Haute Couture, and Posh.The Lead Sponsors were The Mrs. Fashion Sponsors: Tracey Marshall, Natalie Noble, Allstate, H-E-B, NRG, Tanya Snyder, Target, Lisa Hickok, Jodie Lawson, Gina Reese, Katrine Formby, CenterPoint Energy, and Debbi Weinberg. Haute Couture Sponsors were AT&T, Kelly Dodson, Erin Driscoll, Katie Jaffe, Hawkeye Partners, FOUND, Heather May, Lexie McArtor, and Kristine Ogilby. Finally the Posh Sponsors were Jenny Aghamalian, Leslie Bollier, Tiffany Craven, Fashion Friends, Jocelyn Johnson, LOVE Cycling Studio, St. David's Foundation, Wendy Topfer, and True Capital Management.


The day two was followed by the Jack and Friends Concert featuring Eric Church at the Moody Theater, closing the event with a private VIP after party for Jack and Friends at W Hotel.

The Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M) is unquestionably one of the most novel and uplifting charity events in Central Texas that attracts guests from all over US to empower kids and giving them the opportunity to have education, health and wellness; transforming and inspiring the well being of many children.
