Undeniably talented, ambitious and charismatic, and captivatingly charming, actress Grace Johnston is one of the most sought after actresses in the business today. Her rise to fame began when she was only five years old, after being discovered in a New Jersey shopping mall, and continued to grow after signing with the talent agent who discovered her. Within a few short weeks, Johnston was able to land GOD BLESS THE CHILD opposite Mare Winningham. The run continued with Grace booking over 35 nationally syndicated television commercials, while also having several guest-star roles on hit television series such as “The Cosby Show” and “Ghostwriter.”
As she continued to book roles across the board in film, television, and commercials, Johnston quickly found herself landing bigger parts and crossing over from commercials and television, to film. Appearing alongside Bette Milder in the cult classic BEACHES and opposite Rene Russo & Michael Keaton in One Good Cop, Johnston’s ability to lure in audiences garnered her critical acclaim and her efforts were praised with a “Best Actress” nomination at the Daytime Emmy Awards for her role in NOTES FOR MY DAUGHTER.
While working as an actress became a steady career for Johnston at such a tender young age, internal conflicts of wanting a normal childhood lead her to take a break from her profession and experience a new chapter in her life. Johnston enrolled in high school and continued to pursue other career goals, including business & investments. She soon discovered that these positions did not satisfy her ideas of what she truly wanted to embark in for the long term. During a stay in California to visit an ill family member, a casting director approached Johnston wishing to cast her in a music video; although hesitant, Johnston agreed and would later make the decision to return to her acting roots.
Just like when she first became an actress as a little girl, Johnston hit the ground running! She immediately was booking roles across film and television. She landed a guest-starring role on one of TNT’s hottest series “The Closer”, ONCE MORE WITH FELLING [Sundance Selects] opposite Drea de Matteo and Chazz Palminteri, BLOODLINES where she starred and done her own stunts and the list continues. Miss Grace Johnston is back where she was meant to be and where her absence was obviously greatly missed!
Now in 2011, Johnston is busy at work with several films in production and post-production. Out this year, Johnston stars as “Elizabeth” in indie film WITNESS INSECURITY opposite Edward Furlong, Meat Loaf, and Ed Asner. Johnston also stars in the romantic comedy COMPLICATED as “Lana” (a quirky fun character you can’t help but love) and in the zombie flick DEAD INSIDE as “Jeanette” – out in October, just in time for Halloween! Shooting this month, Johnston can be seen in the highly anticipated thriller THE WICKED WITHIN.
In her time away from acting, Johnston is an avid supporter of the Make A Wish Foundation. She spends her free time volunteering for the organization and doing the best she can to ensure that the children are well cared for and loved after their battles with life threatening illnesses. Johnston also has a room at the Texas Children’s Hospital, dedicated in her name, an honor she received after donating 10% of her earnings for every project to the care of her cousin Susan, who suffers from SCIDS (severe combined immune deficiency syndrome).
