While many spent October 31st celebrating the nation’s spookiest holiday, one city in North America opted to reschedule Halloween all together in honor of the “richest two days in horseracing,” the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Between Friday – Saturday, over 95,102 people attended and millions more tuned into NBC for Thoroughbred racing’s year-end Championships at Keeneland in Lexington, KY, with 50,155 forgoing their trick-or-treating plans to witness Triple Crown winner American Pharoah claim the first Grand Slam Title in the history of horseracing (winning all three Triple Crown races + the Breeders' Cup Classic race).
Of the lucky attendees to see horseracing history made was Official Breeders’ Cup Ambassador Kate Upton, alongside boyfriend Justin Verlander of MLB’s Detroit Tigers. Far from frightful on All Hallow’s Eve, Upton opted to wear a white Jason Wu dress and specially designed hat to match, while Verlander looked dapper in an Easter-egg blue suit. The buxom blonde – an avid horseracing fan and previous horse owner – stopped by Bobby Flay’s trackside Chalet and took the time to place a winning bet on her long-time love, American Pharoah, before presenting the trophy to his owners (the Zayat family) at the end of the race day. Following AP’s emotional victory, Upton received a special invitation from the Zayats to hold a private reception with the champion at his nearby stables – finally allowing the model/actress to make good on her recent Tonight Show proclamation: “I just want to make out with American Pharoah.”
Additional notable attendees included: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy star Carson Kresely, musicians Richie Sambora and Toby Keith, Dancing with the Stars performer Kym Johnson, and chefs Bobby Flay, Marcus Samuelsson and Aaron Sanchez.

Vivienne Tam presented her Spring 2016 collection on September 14, 2015 at 7:00pm in The Arc at Moynihan Station (360 West at 33rd St.). Inspired by the increasingly androgynous nature of fashion in the 20’s and today’s “street” culture. It reflects a contemporary contextualization of art deco design elements, characterized by linear forms, dropped waists, stripes, and angularities translated into relaxed shapes that are reminiscent of the teen surfer/skater culture of the 70’s and nods to modern comfort and ease.
