Well folks, mark the dates February 21st and 22nd on your calendars, for Van"The Man" Morrison will be coming to Los Angeles on two historic nights!

On the 21st, he will headline at The Gibson Universal Ampitheatre, located at Universal CitiWalk where he will perform his hits whichinclude "Brown Eyed Girl," "Spanish Rose," and "He Ain't Give You None.  "He's also celebrating the February 12 release of his new live album called "At The Movies."

On February 22nd, Morrison will be honored along with writer/director
Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) and screenwriter William Monahan (The
Departed) at the second annual "Oscar-Wilde:  Honoring Irish Writing In
Film" pre-academy awards party, hosted by the US Ireland Alliance.
Morrison will perform there, too.  What a treat.  Check my column for more details!

In other awards season news, I attended a lovely, worthwhile luncheon at The Beverly Hilton Hotel to honor the publicists.  Some of the celebs in
attendance included Will Ferrell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, George Lucas, and
Jimmy Kimmel.  They honored Amy Pascal, co-chairman, Sony Pictures
Entertainment, and Sid Ganis, president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.  This event is called the ICG Publicists Awards, and just celebrated its 44th year.  Stay tuned to my column for more soon.

Los Angeles Art Show & Art LA Rocked

It seemed like the elite of Hollywood and the art world had reached a
peak recently when A-list legends such as Barbra Streisand and her
actor/producer husband James Brolin, Angelina Jolie, Warren Beatty, and
his lovely wife Annette Bening, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, Albert
Brooks, Jacqueline Bisset, Bud Cort, Jeff Garlin, David Caruso, Rosanne
Barr, Candy Spelling, Eva La Rue, and Giovanni Ribisi descended upon The Barkar Hangar at The Santa Monica Airport for the popular Los Angeles Art Show, presented by Fine Art Dealers Association (FADA), in a weekend that brought groundbreaking attendance and sales.  The sponsors and partners of the red-hot show included Architectural Digest, Pacific Design Center, Art & Antiques, and Venice Magazine, among others.  I've been to it in the past, but never have I witnessed so many celebrities and so much good food!  More than 20,000 people looked at and bought more than 10 million worth of art from around the world.  Some of the restaurants catering included Pane E Vino, Maria's Italian Kitchen, and Border Grill.  More than 4,000 guests attended the 2007 gala and the show ran four days.  It was a blast!

The next day I checked out Art LA at The Santa Monica - known as The New Los Angeles International Cotemporary Art Fair, to benefit The MOCA contemporaries. There were a lot of cutting edge artists represented including Edwin Moses, ACE Gallery owner Doug Chrismas - who has a top-secret show in the works, and artists from The Katharine Mulherin Contemporary, and art from Richard Prince.  I spotted Warren Beatty with an entourage, Albert Brooks and various hipsters.  For more info go to www.artfairsinc.com.

February 17th - Actor Steven Weber (Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip) will host the 11th annual ADG Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.  "ADG"
stands for Art Directors Guild, and writer/director and artist Terry
Gilliam will be honored with the outstanding contributions to cinematic
imagery.  It should be a fabulous gala.
