Valentine's Day Gift Idea: Give Your Beloved a Legal Hooker

A hooker may be the most original present you’ve ever given your Valentine. A bottle of Hooker’s House Bourbon that is.

Hooker’s House Boubon is made in the authentic Kentucky-whiskey spirit yet matured in Sonoma Valley’s Pinot Noir barrels. It satisifies both palates: the bourbon connoisseur and the wine snob.

What makes Hooker's House Bourbon different is their double-barrel aging process. After initial aging in Kentucky, each barrel is transferred at barrel strength into a used Pinot Noir barrel from the Carneros wine region of Sonoma Valley.

Because of Hooker’s House unique aging process, it goes down smooth, with the refinement of a respectable lady yet potent enough for a military man. Flavor notes includes hints of coffee, caramel, black cherry, vanilla and baking spices. A Manhattan cocktail utilizing Hooker’s House Bourbon? A love connection, no doubt.

Hooker's namesake origin is not exactly what you think it is. Rather than being named after a legendary Madame of the Old West, it's an homage to the infamous General Joseph Hooker, a Civil War veteran and Sonoma, CA resident who specialized in whiskey, women and war.

Hooker's House Bourbon, is aptly named because he was known for keeping his troops happy by providing whiskey and recruiting a ‘troop’ of ladies to accompany the soldiers. In fact, the word 'hooker' as modern-day slang for a prostitute can be traced back to this. The women who kept the fighting men happy were known as "Hooker's girls" or "Hooker's brigade" and later became just plain "Hookers”.

Next time you’re in Sonoma, California, you can actually pay respect to Hooker by stopping off his home. Just off Sonoma’s downtown central plaza, the Hooker House museum celebrates his ‘spirited’ life and now liquid legacy.

Hooker’s House Bourbon is aged and bottled by Prohibition Spirits, a new line from HelloCello, the producers of the organic Limoncello di Sonoma, BelloCello (orange aphrodisiacal liqueur) and FigCello.

Pick up a bottle of Hooker's House Bourbon for your sweetheart and watch his or her eyes when you say you've brought home a 'hooker' to celebrate Valentine's Day 2012 with!
