National Vodka Day 2014 – Taste Vodka Like Never Before

Vodka is one of the most beloved spirits in the United States and fittingly we have a day to celebrate it with National Vodka Day, which happens October 4th. Vodka can take on any flavor and that makes it a favorite when it comes to mixology. Splash Magazines Worldwide has compiled a list of some amazing vodka drinks for you to try out to celebrate this day.

We are going to start things off with a few great recipes from our new favorite vodka Loft & Bear, produced right in Southern California.

LEFT COAST GREYHOUND

Ingredients:

2 oz. Loft & Bear artisanal vodka

1 1/2 oz. grapefruit

1 freshly sliced jalapeño

3-4 mint leaves

1/4 oz. simple syrup or agave syrup (can omit, depending on acidity of the grapefruit)

Instructions:

Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker. Healthy shake and dump into bucket glass.

*To make a Left Coast Salty Dog, just add a salted rim.

 

Left Coast Greyhound

Ingredients:

2 oz. Loft & Bear artisanal vodka

*1 1/2 oz. fig puree (recipe below)

Rosemary sprig

Instructions

Shake and strain onto large ice cube. Garnish with rosemary.

 

*Fig puree:

Ingredients:

5-6 figs

4 oz. coconut water

1 1/2 oz. meyer lemon juice

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to blender and pulse until thoroughly combined.

SALTY BEAR

California chile-infused Loft & Bear artisanal vodka

Cynar

Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

Touch of lime

Finished with a rosemary sea salt rim.

 

Salty Bear

BEAR & HONEY SEED

Play on a traditional Bee's Knees, which is usually made with gin, honey & lemon. Ingredients:

2 oz. mustard-infused Loft & Bear artisanal vodka

1/2 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice

1/2 oz. honey syrup

Instructions: Shake and strain into coupe glass. Garnish with lemon.

 

 

Bear & Honey Seed

TURN OF THE CENTURY – Studio, The Roof, Stone Rose Lounge, Whiskey Blue, Whiskey Park, Living Room, Kingside

1.5 Stoli Orange

.75 Lillet Blanc

.75 White Crème de Cacao

.75 lemon juice

Shake. Coupe. Skewered orange peel. Funnel with chocolate square.

 

 

Turn of the Century

Muddle 5 mint leaves and 3 blackberries

1.5 Kanon Vodka

.75 Byrhh (Sub with Dubonnet Red in other markets if you cannot find)

.75 lemon juice

.5 simple syrup

Shake. Double strain. Crushed ice (rocks if no crushed ice) in highball. Soda float. Mint sprig and skewered blackberry.

2oz Maple Bacon Infused Finlandia Vodka

House Made - Spicy Bloody Mary Mix

Garnish with celery stalk, slice of maple bacon, cornichon, lemon wedge

VODKA TONIC ELYXIR – Studio, The Roof, Stone Rose Lounge, Whiskey Blue, Whiskey Park, Living Room

2oz Absolut Elyx

1 bottle Fentimens Tonic Water

Served in a highball with vodka and rosemary sprig. Garnish with lemon peel

Add the tonic to your liking.

 

 

SPICED PEAR COLLINS

1.5oz pear vodka

.5 oz. lemon juice

.5 oz. rosemary and clove syrup

Soda water

Instructions:

Pour Absolut Pear, rosemary and clove syrup & lemon into mixing glass. Vigorously shake over ice. Strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Top up with soda water. Garnish with a fan of pear.

Spiced Pear Collins

HIGHWAY ROBBERY

Ingredients:

2 oz. Ketel One

1 oz. lemon juice

1/2 oz. simple syrup

1 oz. strawberry puree

Balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

Shake ingredients, add a few drops of Balsamic to taste and serve with a black pepper and strawberry garnish.

Highway Robbery

 

SVEDKA Vodka has provided us with some tasty classic vodka recipes for you stir up for your friends this Saturday.

 

SVEDKA’s Classic Dirty Martini

 •2 1/2 parts SVEDKA Vodka

•1/2 part Dry Vermouth

•Dash orange bitters

 

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake or stir until cold. Pour into a chilled Martini  glass and garnish with olives.

 

Svedka Martini

  

SVEDKA’s Bloody Mary

 •1 1/2 parts SVEDKA Vodka

•3 parts tomato juice

•1/2 part fresh lemon juice

•Dash Worcestershire sauce

•Dash hot sauce

•Pinch of salt

 

Build in mixing glass filled with ice, and “roll” from one cup to another until cold and mixed. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with cherry tomatoes and grated black pepper.

 

Bloody Mary

 

 

SVEDKA Mule

 •2 parts SVEDKA Vodka

•2 lime wedges

•4 parts ginger beer

 

Squeeze lime wedges into a Collins glass and fill with ice. Pour in SVEDKA Vodka and top with cold ginger beer. Garnish with lime wedges.

Moscow Mule

 

 

SVEDKA’s Colada Rangoon Gimlet

 •2 parts SVEDKA Colada

•3/4 part simple syrup

•3/4 part fresh lime juice or sour mix

•1 kaffir lime leaf

 

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with another kaffir lime leaf.
