Go loco this year and surprise your friends’ taste buds by serving up a new twist on a Cinco de Mayo staple. Margaritas can be one of the most versatile drinks around, so this year experiment with your drink! Use different liquors, fruit flavors, and even beer to change up the traditional cocktail; sangria is also a great choice too when trying to mix it up!
Below are a few new recipe ideas.
- 2 parts Licor 43
- 2 parts tequila
- 6 parts sour mix
- Orange or lime wedge
- Salt (optional)
Directions: Rim a chilled margarita glass with sea salt and set aside. Combine Licor 43, tequila and sour mix in a blender with ice and blend. Pour mixture into glass and garnish with orange wheel.
43 Vanilla Margarita
- 3/4 oz. Licor 43
- 3/4 oz. tequila
- 1-1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 oz. simple syrup
- Lime wheel
Directions: Add ice to a rocks glass and set aside. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into glass and garnish with a lime wheel.
- 3 oz. chilled beer, lighter-style lager
- 1 oz. Licor 43
- 1 oz. tequila
- 1/2 oz. lime juice
- 3 Strawberries
Directions: Cut strawberries and a few lime slices and muddle in a shaker. Add tequila, Licor 43, lime juice and ice and shake. Pour mixture into a margarita glass and top with beer. Garnish with a strawberry slice and lime wedge.
