22nd Annual Food, Wine & Micro-Brew Fest

The South Coast Plaza was taken over by the 22nd Annual Food, Wine & Microw-Brew Fest on October 5, 2006 and gave patrons a chance to enjoy three levels of the best in food and drink around.
The event was to raise money and awareness for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
The reasons to attend an event like this are numerous, first and foremost the charity aspect of it, giving the attendee such a great feeling to give to a worthwhile charity. After that you will not find a better opportunity to sample so much and so many wonderful delicacies. If you love wine, this was the place to be, you could not possibly have tasted all the different wines that were available. Without a doubt when the night was done, people left with a number of new favorites to add to their wine cellar.
Homemade beer was all-around as well on this evening and no one made it better than Brewbakers of Huntington Beach. The great thing about Brewbakers is that if you are a true beer conaseur, you have the chance to come up with your taste and leave with your own personalized brew.  Brewbakers is great for the entire family, they have hands down the best root beer I have ever tasted and as with the beer, it is their own recipe. And if you like pretzels and pizza you can combine the two, because these great pretzels are used as the crust in their pizza.

There was also a number of places that did catering and would take of your for any special event, but among the most innovative was the Wonderland Bakery in Newport Beach. If you have a young girl in family this is a great place to take her to celebrate any event, any type of sweet party, cookies, cupcakes, they will help you celebrate your special day. They also have flowing fountains of chocolate and lots of great gift ideas, from cookie bouquets to gift baskets and anything you may or may not think of.

An event like this you really have to pick and choose because there is too much good food, but it was easy to tell some of the crowds favorites by the lines or how fast the food disappeared. Two restaurants at the top of the list were of the southwestern orientation, Z' Tejas Southwestern Grill of Costa Mesa and Chipotle. I would recommend if you try one dish from any of these fine restaurants it would have to be the Diablo Chicken Pasta from Z' Tejas. The chicken combined with this amazing jalapeno linguini and Diablo sauce is a combination that will make your taste buds tingle. Chipotle has any type of Mexican food your heart could desire in any combination you are looking for and the secret has to be that amazing chipotle sauce. But in addition if you concerned with where your food is coming from, Chipotle uses only natural meats that have not been tainted with hormones or antibiotics and all their food is carefully chosen based on the quality of the farms and ranches, this will just make you feel a little better about what you are eating.

If you were looking for a non-alcoholic drink, a new one that seemed to be quite popular was the Go-Girl Energy Drink. If you are looking for a new drink to try out, give this one a shot. They also gave out a handout with recipes that would turn this energy drink into a tasty adult beverage and men don't be scared off by the girl in the name, no doubt both sexes would enjoy it.

Fabulous Service and Food All Night Long

This is one of those events you could go on and on about the great food, but trust me you can't go wrong with any of these restaurants. If you are looking for a fun time and a worthy charity, make sure to mark your 2007 calendar and attend the 23rd Annual Wine & Microw-Brew Fest
