Here are Joanna’s Do’s & Don’ts, some tips on how to achieve a flawless complexion, how to quickly transition makeup from day to night and a few beauty products she simply can’t live without.
- Go overboard. Layers of makeup looks heavy…LESS IS MORE
- Always set foundation with powder. Go for a more natural, dewy look.
- Curl your eyelashes after applying mascara; you can risk damaging them.
- Take time to find a foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone. Shades lighter/darker will cause skin to look ashy or orange.
- Plan to wax or tweeze your eyebrows before an event. Doing it the day before can cause skin to remain puffy and red.
- Limit the coats of mascara applied to 2. Clumpy lashes are a no-no.
Joanna’s tips for keeping skin looking fresh are simple! “Use hydrating mist multiple times throughout the day and invest in good hydrating cream. Beautiful makeup starts with skin. Keep your makeup fresh and light. Use tinted moisturizers or light foundations. Mineral foundations in powder are best.” Joanna recommends JUICE BEAUTY Hydrating Mist (organic formula), Dermalogica Ultra Calming Mist (Sensitive skin) and Kiehls Acai Age-Protecting Toning Mist (great for mature skin).
When it comes to transitioning makeup from day to night Joanna recommends NOT to remove day makeup. “Spray your face with hydrating mist to refresh the skin. Add concealer just a shade lighter than your skin under the eyes. Sweep entire face with a light mineral finish powder. Smoke eyes with a dark brown eye shadow and apply bronzer or a shimmery peach/pink blush on the apples of cheeks.”
