´╗┐Tehmina Sunny is rapidly making her mark in both film and television. Noticed by industry icon and Oscar nominated director Roland Joffe, she was selected for his epic adventure ‘Singularity’ which will appear in theaters in 2013. She has completed working on 'Argo', Ben Affleck's eagerly awaited production in collaboration with George Clooney and directed by Ben Affleck.
Her earliest works include collaborating with multi- award winning director Mike Figgis for an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel ‘The Ground Beneath Her Feet’ portraying Vina, a tainted scarred character whose story is told over many decades. When asked how it all started Tehmina explained “I fell into acting after a British agent approached me and said he would like to represent me as an actress. I thought he was joking. I said NO, but he kept contacting everyday till I said yes. A couple of weeks after that I booked a role on the feature 'Children of Men' with Clive Owen and Julianne Moore....That was the start of the beginning.“ She was handpicked to play a futuristic underground gang member in the Oscar nominated project 'Children of Men', directed by Alfonso Cuaron in his adaptation of P.D. James novel working with Clive Owen and Julianne Moore.
On the small screen Tehmina has portrayed a retrospective of characters in Emmy award winning productions including NCIS, Californication, Heroes, Undercovers and recently Aaron Sorkins’ The Newsroom.
Born in London, her passion for the arts was developed at an early age. She received a scholarship for playing the violin, Viola and piano. With no previous training she was a finalist for the BBCs cross country search for acting talent, a nationwide competition battling against tens of thousands. From that point she appeared in numerous school productions exploring her newfound talent.
She decided to put her artistic dreams aside and focused on achieving a more “stable” life as a computer programmer. She attended the University of Leeds in England, where she studied Business Information Systems with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. This combined with marketing and business studies earned her a Bachelor of Science degree with honors.
Tehmina’s language skills as well as her ability to transition smoothly between British, American, Indian and Middle Eastern accents have given her a wide national appeal, thus allowing her to naturally carve a niche in the entertainment industry.
