Giving up everything you know to follow your passion might be more of a risk than doing anything else in life, but for Skyler Seymour, it was by doing so that this young man found his true reason for existence – acting.
Born in Weatherford, Oklahoma, Skyler as a young boy journeyed through 45 states before his 7th birthday. Being the grandson of a Navy pharmacist, eventually he settled with his mother in one of Texas’s smallest cities, Amarillo. It is there where Skyler would discover his love for tennis, anime and acting.
Awarded countless trophies and not to mention a full scholarship to the prestigious University of Texas for his extraordinary athletic capabilities, Skyler made the tough decision to turn down the full ride and move to New York in the hopes of becoming an actor/model. With the support of his family and the financial backing from his grandparents, Skyler went off to the big apple to find an agent last year.
While living in New York, Skyler attended the International Modeling and Talent Association competing alongside over 2,000 participants and won best young adult actor of the year as well as the runner up in print and a $10,000 scholarship to the New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts. As a result he landed his first manager with Unified Management.
Following the advice from his new manager, Skyler gave up the $10,000 acting scholarship and drove off into the traffic jammed streets of Los Angeles. Under the direction of distinguished acting coaches like Brian Reise, Ryan R. Williams, Andrew Magarian and Aaron Marcus to name a few, was how Skyler’s first year in L.A. began. In just 11 months of his arrival in Hollywood, Skyler’s list of accomplishments has only been growing and showing his promising talents, he has now been in L.A. for just over a year.
Landing roles in 2 music videos, 2 commercials, 2 short films, 2 features, a TV show and a promo series Skyler’s acting career is just taking off into what can potentially become a notable one. Currently signed to International Artists PR & Talent Management, he has recently become a regular cast member in the hit YouTube series, Steam Room Stories (SRS), where he sits alongside a cast of young and up and coming actors in the special 100th episode.
As if his plate isn’t full enough, Skyler has become the lead in 3 new web series. You can find him as Max Sherman on the web series Just Us Guys and also on The Social Experiment which recently finished filming and is currently being pitched. Lastly his newest series, The Project X, and will be filming in March 2014.
“If not Yes, then Why Not?” A mantra that Skyler has religiously invoked can possibly be the reason why he never takes No as an option and has resulted in a gifted career. With a fresh face and a lively attitude Skyler has only begun to show us what the depths of his career can lead him to.
Skyler is currently in a new full-length feature called “Hidden Valley: The Awakening.” Playing a major role with cast mates such as Malcolm McDowell, Booboo Stewart, Fivel Stewart, among others. With the writer and creator of the book Jon Morgan Woodward, and popular horror director John Buechler, “Hidden Valley” is named one of the “Most Anticipated Movies of 2014.” Learn more about Hidden Valley and join their Facebook page.
