My name is Rachel Currence and I was born and raised in La Jolla, California. I moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago and have lived here since.
Ever since a young girl I have always been in the public eye. I started out in beauty pageants winning many titles, one including Little Miss Southern California which placed me in many parades, charity events and the local newspaper. From that, my mother received a referral for me to be seen by the Abrams Artists Agency located in LA. After signing a contract with them, I went on to book numerous national commercials some such as Superbowl 2000 McDonalds, Red Lobster, TigerWoods/Target campaign; print ads for Lightspan, Dance Catalogues, Better Homes and Gardens and my first speaking role on a television series: The Parent'Hood. I knew very early I wanted to take acting seriously and it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Nothing made me happier than being on set and working. After joining SAG, I booked more roles on television shows, print, feature films, music videos and commercials.
Seeing my passion for acting my mother committed her time to driving me back and forth from San Diego to LA for auditions and filming. Sometimes we would make the 2 hour drive for a 2 minute audition...and sometimes we would get a call the day of and she would drop everything she was doing to get me there. I admire her so much for her dedication and desire to see me fulfill my dreams. She taught me to commit 100% to my craft, remain humble and always put God first. It was her who got me started and her who always pushes me to my limit to be the best I can be. I am so thankful for her.
I love attending the theatre (Cats, Hairspray and Rent are my favorites) as well as traveling the world. I took ballet, jazz and hip hop growing up and still love to see the Nutcracker every Christmas. I love people, love to make new acquaintances and form lasting friendships. I believe a strong support group and having friends by your side is so important especially when you are pursuing your dreams. I am lucky to have the support system I do and always make sure I am there for my friends as they are for me. We help each other to stay positive...you have to. Sometimes you can encounter negative people or go through bad experiences in life...but I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and if one door closes-it is surely so a new and better door can be opened. I look forward to the doors I have to open and the opportunities ahead :)
