Emily O’Meara has a Bachelor of Performing Arts from a combination of colleges – Monash University, Oklahoma University and the University of California. She has had a colorful career in film, television and theater to date - her first role being in an Australian television series Blue Heelers at the age of 15. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an actress and there's been no turning back on that dream. Career highlights include the USA premiers of Ollie and the Minotaur and My Romantic History, as well as films Shang, Dead End, Last Night and Wanker. She had the pleasure of working with fellow Aussie Simon Baker on an ANZ commercial campaign.
Her performance in My Romantic History was praised by critics:
‘The chemistry he shares with Emily O'Meara is insane. Her raven-haired Amy pretty much steals the show as the unapologetic Amy. Sometimes unlikeable, she's manipulative, sarcastic, and real.' - Cinesnatch
'O'Meara and Wade are likable and, in the Hollywood meat grinder of fresh faces, eminently castable.'- Backstage
'New guy Thomas is beset by a number of enthusiastic females before drunkenly succumbing to the charms of Amy (a luscious Emily O’Meara).' - LA Weekly
Producing credits include the critically acclaimed My Romantic History, multi Green Room Award nominated Intimate Apparel and Death in White Linenand world-wide distributed documentary feature film Beyond Infinity. In addition to performing and producing, Emily currently has a 30min comedy pilot that is being shopped around Hollywood, with her sights set on creating, producing and acting her own network television comedy in the future.
She is a big believer in being a pro-active actor; she must work hard to get results. She is not one to wait for the phone to ring. O’Meara lists Lena Dunham as one of her greatest inspirations- for taking charge of her career and making it happen.
Emily studies at The Renegade Theatre and Film Group under the Academy Member and Emmy Award winning Chick Vennera.
