Matthew Stone Artist Rooftop Reception
Hotel Shangrila Suite 700
Exciting upcoming British artist Matthew Stone, named most influential person in the arts in the UK under 30 by the Sunday Times, co-hosts with Hotel Shangrila owner and art patron Tamie Adaya. This BritWeek event takes place at Hotel Shangrila’s Suite 700, the rooftop bar and lounge, which opens to the public at 9:30 p.m.

Built in 1939, Hotel Shangrila is an architectural gem and historic landmark in Santa Monica, California. It is a beacon of Art Deco beauty, Hollywood allure and Los Angeles history, with expansive ocean views from every room and suite. A quintessential example of Streamline Moderne architecture, Hotel Shangrila has been a popular hideaway for decades with guests ranging from presidents and luminaries to movie stars, artists, tastemakers, insiders, cultural influences and world travelers. Ownership has continually tweaked and added to the restoration and is currently installing in the suites authentic collectibles representative of the lifestyle and art of the 1930’s and 40’s. The hotel has been completely updated with a contemporary feel, while remaining loyal to the integrity of key historical elements of the original design and maintaining a sense of timelessness.
