P.S. Arts is a Santa Monica-based non-profit that restores art education programs to schools in disadvantaged areas. Penned by co-authors Lisa Roccio and Linda Meadow, 'City Baby LA' is the comprehensive, must-have guide for every expectant and new parent in Los Angeles. The book covers neighborhoods in the South Bay, on the Westside, in Hollywood, Malibu, the Valley, and, as marketing maven Jessica Gold writes, "everywhere in between."

The crowd at the party was so thick, there was a line waiting to get into the North Beverly Drive shop, and seeing Lange's beautifully-designed garments was all but impossible. But the event was hopping. About a hundred women and a few interested gents- some with babies- enjoyed the festivities.

The ebullient Liz Lange and attentive staff hosted, with co-authors Lisa Roccio and Linda Meadow, and Amy Shapiro and Heather Myric, Director of Special Events and Events Coordinator, respectively, for P.S. Arts, adding to the hospitality. Lange was elegant in her signature black and white, Author Roccio sparkled in a gem-green dress, and Meadow looked fabulous in sexy, purple paisley garb- particularly for someone who had just given birth ten days prior!

"We published the first edition ourselves," Meadow offered, pointing to the book, smiling, "but somebody else did it this time." Indeed, Rizzoli picked up the title and did a very nice job. Meadows knows a thing or two about her subject matter: she and co-author write for the May issue of 'InStyle' magazine, and their book has been seen in 'US Weekly.'

So did some of the women named in Roccio and Meadow's book, including Tricia Leigh Fisher, owner of Nana's Garden on Robertson Boulevard, Beverly Hills.

Others in attendance who were also mentioned in the book include art teachers Sahkuntala Zakhein and Aditi Jones, and performing artist Lou Stratten, author of the forthcoming book 'Sir Frettirick the Lion Bear.'

The authors gave away copies of their book, and guests went home with a goodie bag generously filled with items from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Putumayo World Music, Love That Baby, C&C California, Rosemary Baby, and Smashbox.

While the authors have something to crow about, so do the folks at P.S. Arts. Celebrating their fifteenth anniversary this year, the group is readying for its giant annual fundraising event "Express Yourself," a creativity fair to be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Event co-chairs are Maria Bell, Kimberly Brooks, Carleen Cappelletti, Laurie David, Gale Goldring, Darcy Pollack, Jennifer Schiff and Julia Sorkin.

The big day is this Sunday, November 13^th, and food samplings from over 30 restaurants in the L.A. area will be huge draw. The special family-oriented event is eight years old and has solid sponsorship from E! Networks, Peter Morton, and Old Navy. Food sponsors include Starbucks.

A committee of some forty women- including author Linda Meadow- do the planning and preparation for this gigantic endeavor. This year the group expects about 1,000 people to attend.

"We've sold about 1500 tickets," Myric said- that's with a 2,000 person capacity at their venue, so they're close to a sell-out. As to the actual number of people that would max out the hangar and at which they'll close sales, Shapiro quipped, "I have the official answer from the fire marshal: "a lot." So there's still room. Tickets are on sale at $650 for a family of four.

Those who missed out on the event at Liz Lange will get a second chance in December when Roccio and Meadows will hold another book party at Baby Style in Santa Monica.
